How often is "IP Trade" just code for sellmesomebeersbro?

and is there some etiquette around it?

Edit: guess I should clarify because I recently observed such a thing and it occurred to me that it might be a good way for a wale-poor person to get some aquatic mammals from a wale-rich type.

I've done 5-10 IP trades and none of them involved $

I think it would be a small minority of them, if it ever means that.

I mainly do in-person trades; not one of them has been a cash sale.

I think I'm on the other side of that scenario, unless you count Red Peak, and I'm not parting with any of those. Last I heard Henry is not doing well.

Maybe we could just sell each other some NW shelf turds?

I live in GR and anytime founders or craft beer event where people come from out of state to attend I'm always looking for trades. Chicago is a relatively short drive from here so it is an opportunity for me to enjoy ZD for various Shorts brews for example. That and you can finally match a face to the avatar...

I do a lot of IP trades when I travel on business. The majority do not include cash, but occasionally someone will offer to pick up a case of Zombie Dust at cost, for example. Definitely no selling of walez, bro.

I also typically meet up at a place that serves beer, and I buy them a beer. Always glad to put a name to a face.

after reading this thread only thing I could think of is the couple of Ass Hats at DLD who stand outside and offer people hundreds of dollars for their BA DL's.

as someone who usually only does IP trades, I have never done it for those reasons. Usually it is for limited beers, such as I have done Beat5 for BT, CFH for older a Beat, MI beers for Beat5 (hmmm, I am noticing a common trade for me...I love Beat!).

I also do IP trades when I am traveling places. For example when i go to MI, I usually set up $4$ trades, whether for limited beer or shelf beer. That way I don't have to spend my time hunting for beer.

The only time I have exchanged cash for beer (whether receiving or giving) it has been for the cost of the bottle, no profits made, and it is usually amongst friends (or friend's of a friend)

You could argue that a rich person offering $200 of beer for $30 rare beer is also technically a sale masquerading as a trade but I don't see the community here having an issue with that.

I guess I still consider "cost of the bottle" cash for beer as a sale, so it would still fit with the scenario I describe. NTTAWWT.

I'm taking down two La Folie to a trading partner pre-Huna Day, just wanted to hook him up. I don't do that for non-friends or people I've never traded with!

really? hmm, I view it as "hey buddy my store ran out (or I cannot make it to the release) can you grab me one?" I have done the same thing if a friend is hitting up a store or food place and they are grabbing me something not beer related. I call it paying them back not a sales transaction.

I have friend's who regularly drive out to Alpine Brewery (about 25-30 minutes away), they usually ask if I want anything. I do the same if I am taking a trip somewhere.

p.s. Maybe this belongs in that acronym thread, but what is NTTAWWT?

Don't see an issue with that. People trade $300 worth of beer for BA DL - why not cut out the hassle and use cash?
