2002 is very good, i actually prefer the 2003 vintage though.

Maybe people actually drink them instead of saving. 2000 OG is easier to find than 2001, but harder to find than 99 OG or even Millenium Geuze:slight_smile:. 07 OG much harder to find than 07 OG Vintage.

I popped an '00 OG last new years that was phenomenal. Definitely a bottle that held the pinnacle flavor profiles of a gueuze, IMO.

There were three bottlings in 2001 (two in March and one in April). Which one do you have? The April was very good when I had one at Zwanze Day year before last.

2001 Oude Geuze? I had one at the restaurant last year, it was great. My notes only compare it to the 1997 (which was the other "cellar" bottle the had), and say "Much more intense than the 97, more sour, more funky, just as much mineral. Also amazing."

If you're talking about 2001 OGV then I can't help you, haven't had older than 2003. (Did they make a 2001? I'm actually not sure which years have OGV's.)

Nice, thanks. Looks like 2002 is the start, although I've heard it claimed that 50th, 99, and MG are all basically the same as OGV, with special names. Anyone here know anything about that?

I wouldnt protest . I had it in December with the 99 and MG. Honestly 99 was far and above better than the other two.

Ok cool. We need to consolidate the list once we know what everyone is bringing anyways. I'll throw on list and you guys can vote on the ancillary bottles we each open

I'm not sure why this is being discussed here... Are we all invited to this tasting?

I don't know much about the 50th blend, whether it's just that year's gueuze release with a special label or what. Most likely some thought went into it.

'99 was just an exceptional blend that year. Supposedly attributed to how good the Girardin lambic turned out. I've had some slight bottle variation with this one.

Millennium is a special collaboration blend with Armand and Wilheim (can't even pronounce his last name; blender from De Cam) using lambics they specifically picked out.

Having had the 50th, '99, 02 OGV and the J&J blends, I can honestly say 50th was my least favorite by a pretty wide margin. It certainly was the most unique tasting though.

I really enjoyed the 50th, though I could easily see it suffering by comparison to a more flavorful gueuze. I'd certainly drink it first if you're doing a tasting. I'd compare the flavor profile to Blauw or fresher Lente, similar mineral/floral whatnot.

Also re Brouwsel, and I say this as (maybe) the world's biggest fan of time-ruined Brouwsel, it's not worth $100 let alone $850. But it's turning into something quite interesting now if you have the chance to try it.
