It's not even the best brewery in that county.

My post was referring to the fact that it is one of the best of that area which it easily is, maybe you haven't had the best experiences but I have had over a dozen beers form them and they have been quality.

Whatever you do, DO NOT try the Regular or BA Cabra  If and when you can find it ...

I may not be in love with every beer Greenbush puts out but I do think they makes some very excellent beers. Similar characteristics among the beers maybe, but many breweries have a house characteristic. I can agree at times there may be a residual sweetness but I have not noticed any under-attenuation.

Greenbush is a very welcome addition to the list of Michigan breweries. I am glad to have the option when I go to my local store now.

I don't think it was Michigan BAs as much as SW Michigan/Indiana/Chicago peeps that have hyped them up so fast. With that said, I believe they make quality brews for the most part. I have looked at the beers they pour at festivals and the pub and see no issue with looks. The residual taste you speak of I don't get on all but do on some. Most brewpubs have some sort of residual taste though, whether it be from the water or house yeast, it will happen. I do agree they should slow down and take their time tweaking recipes, but I for one really dig their stuff, especially their IPAs/DIPAs.

When I stopped in, they had only been open for 3 to 4 weeks. The beers were not dialed in yet, which is not a surprise to anyone.

Will stop agian someday and see what the buzz is about.

So far I've had the Barrel Aged LTD, Dunegrass, Retribution, and Sunspot. None were bad, but none were especially memorable either. They seem decent, but not worthy of the praise they get (which is strong, even if limited due to distribution).

But then, I am also pretty critical of Michigan breweries as a whole...

I love Brother Ben. I have tried other beers they make but I don't love them as much.

However, I don't like some of the facebook posts I see from them. They seem to be mean spirited sometimes.

I should have been more targeted. I personally thought Hopslam was sweeter than I like. Bro Ben IMHO was closer to the balance I enjoy. Did not mean to offend other persons preferences. Cause that what's makes life interesting.

What I mean is that many MI breweries enjoy much better reputations than they deserve. I love Founders, and have a relatively favorable view of Hopcat, Odd Sides, and Kuhnhenn. I generally think that Arbor, Atwater, and Arcadia get an appropriate level of credit. But I think Brewery Vivant, Dark Horse, New Holland, and Jolly Pumpkin are all profoundly overrated. And there are a number of breweries that get little discussion in MI which are outright horrible, like Jaden James or Mitten Brewing.

And Lions fans from MI always think their boys are going to the superbowl.
Cornbread tastes great. Let us have it.

Interesting..I think Jolly Pumpkin is profoundly under rated as well as Brewery Vivant..Darkhorse gets what it deserves imo..Agree with you on New Holland..

You forgot Bells? Edit - I agee with some of your rankings, others not.

I agree that there are breweries in MI that need to get better soon, or the market will take care of it for them.
