Ahh, thanks for the clarification. What would you classify Oarsman as? More of a sourish american pale wheat? I did some research and someone from Bell's said it is indeed NOT a berlinerwiess according to this: http://forum.northernbrewer.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=92997, but the link to the thread does't work... How close or different is it to the style?

Where can you get Fritz 1809, Firkins?

Hybrid, strange, sour mashed American wheat. It's truly a beer without a defined style.

Firkins is out of it, maybe Zipps.

Sorry for the misclassification, both ba and rb list it as a bw. I really enjoyed it the first time I had it, but after having

Acerbity I couldn't go back. Any guess what the abv will/should be on the Schell's? Kristen from pour decisions blogged on the style staying that traditionally the alcohol level is quite low, but 1809 is listed at 4%.

The current kegs of 1809 are labeled at 5% abv...

.... and the beer (which seems to be brewed for export only) is not particularly well respected by some who know the now mostly defunct German originals -see for example this post by Ron Pattinson.

Agreed. Plus if it's corked and caged bottles, you know it's going to be spendy. I'm in for a case, though. I love 1809, and I hope Schell's is close to that.

I understand your desire to have this beer in 6 packs, but there was absolutely no chance we were going to run a lacto/Brett beer through our regular bottle filler. These beers will be hand filled, and to do that many 12 oz bottles would not be practical.

So I'm assuming the up-coming Gose will be hand-bottled too?

No, the Gose will be in 12oz bottles. We did a sour mash with that one.

Did I hear that the gose will be in stores on April 4? Correct me if I'm wrong but I think typically zommerfest starts showing up mid to to late may and the here about a month or so later. Where will the Radler fit into the brew schedule and will you be making any changes from last year? I heard rumors that you are going to bump up the alcohol when you bottle. I hope you keep it the same, as I age I enjoy low ABV beers more and more add hangovers seem to hurry more than they used to and I seem to be the only one responsible enough to stay sober and drive.

Also after listing all the summer offerings from schells made realize how much I love their summer lineup. I think I will be paying for alot of peacock feed this summer

Good move. Didn't Boulevard have issues because of this a couple years back?

Anyone ever had Grand Teton Snarling Badger? Just wondering where that ranks among other Berliner Weisse beers as it is somewhat easy to find on the shelf.

Reviews seen pretty Luke warm at best on it.

What is the general consensus on syrup in your bw? To be honest I enjoy it both ways but probably prefer it without

Never had one with syrup; don't know that I will because I enjoy them so much as-is :-D

I don't think it is ready for primetime. More of a weizenbock than a Berliner Weiss. Maybe it will improve with age.

I would recommend Minnesota's own Purity Amber Weiss. A pretty good Berliner.

I've heard good things about the amber Weiss, but unfortunately purity is no longer in business. Hopefully brau bros. Considers taking on the recipe being that they brewed it anyhow. Does anyone know of any sitting on a shelf somewhere for me to try?

Did not know that Purity is no longer in business. I have found their beer mostly in the west metro. Always at what is now Team Liquor in Shorewood and in the southern metro at Blue Max.

Brau Brothers did indeed brew the beer and evidently ran it through their bottling line without issues.

Ok, first, you have no proof/first hand experience with making this statement. And second, Brau Brothers is not a 152 year old brewery with transfer lines that are 300 feet long. So don't imply we are making a bad decision by erring on the side of safety.
