Sexual Chocolate and Hopslam was drinkable. I wouldn't have done it if they were my beers though.

Victory Hop Devil and storm king was amazing.

Also BCBCS and Allagash Curiuex was an expensive, yet tasty half and half.

Edit: When experimenting, I always do a test mix first, and see if the mix will be good. If its not, don't mix the rest, just drink them separately. If it is good, DO IT!

Half Sierra Nevada Pale Ale/Half Sierra Nevada Bigfoot....delicious. Lighter Belgian beers and pale ale go good together too. I mixed a 3f Gueuze with a Barrel Aged Bigfoot and it was pretty good last night.

I don't understand why you would mix beer, that sounds incredibly....dumb. If you acquire a brew that was painstakingly brewed to the specifications of the brewer, and which was meant to give a certain flavor and experience.. Why on earth would you take it upon yourself to mix it with an entirely different brew? If I was the one who brewed it I would probably feel like smacking you. Idk, maybe this is part of the craft world I just haven't got to yet. I hope i never get that bored with beer.

On my birthday I drunkenly decided to mix my two favorite beers....BCBS and 3F Oude Gueuze. It was the worst idea I have ever had. I called out of work the next day as my malty bourbony brett burbs were causing me insta-pukes. No bueno!!!

I think it can be done right, just make sure the beers are not either incredibly rare, expensive, and MAKE SURE they match up palate wise. I do agree that a really amazing beer should be drank as is.

Gueze, oud bruins and flemish reds are all made by mixing younger beers with older beers. There isn't right and wrong as far as this topic is concerned just an obvious difference of opinion.

I on two occasions picked up a 750ml of Lost Abbey Last Judgement and a pint of Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout both times I wondered about mixing em together to see if it would taste like an oatmeal raisin cookie. Yet i declined to do so cause it would mess up the individuality integrity of each brew.
I've seen black n tans poured but have never ordered one myself.

Young's Double Chocolate Stout & Lindemans Framboise, 4:1 ratio
    It's inexpensive and tasty.

Edit: Sorry, that's not really off the beaten path... In that case, Black Tuesday & Rose de Grambrinus

    Petrus Aged Pale for sourness.

Lindemans Cuvee Rene for tart barnyard.

    Any decent Kriek for cherry.

They all seem to blend well with a wide variety of beers.

Foggy Ridge Cider with Left Hand Nitro stout is my most recent (and nearly only) mixing of note. 1:3 ratio. I'm seriously considering putting together a Heaven and Hell soon though have a few 120 minutes cellaring now. What is the verdict on this one?

An Ann Arbor, MI brewery, Arbor Brewing Company, did an Alt and a Mild that were both good for the 1990s, but would not be great now.

The two mixed 50/50 were really great. Just a perfect drinking beer that went down smooth with a great taste. I am hoping to find a combo like that again.
