What's "Rarer"... Rare or King Henry?

Anyone know the bottle counts? I had always been under the impression that Rare was the harder to get of the two, but lately it seems that Rare has been appearing on the FT's but not KH. Also, what was the original price for KH?

Pretty sure they had similar bottle counts (~12,000?), especially because King Henry was aged in used Rare barrels. They were both distributed, but Rare was around $40 on release and King Henry was around $20.

Rare has been out for a few years longer than KH, so this coupled with its expense makes it harder to trade for. I wouldn't go by frequency of appearances on the ISO:FT board to judge rarity.

Neither was rare, they were both well distributed releases from a major brewery. Rare sat on shelves longer as it was more expensive. Rare is probably valued higher now. King Henry was extremely coveted shortly after release, but that has faded a bit. They are both reported to be "not as good" now as they used to be.

I think some of the FT: Rare post have come in response to people giving up a lot of REALLY good beer for it and some traders simply trading somewhat rare quality for not as rare quantity and quality. I know Rare went for AftW, Cherry Rye, Coffee, and BCBS X4 recently. 7 really good beers for 1 really good somewhat rare beer. If I had more than 1 rare, I would definitely be trading it right now for multiple quality limited releases (Darkness, Huna, etc). I only have 1, and I am still considering it for several high quality less coveted bottles.

Were Cherry Rye and Bramble also about 12,000 bottles released?

I traded my last rare for quality and quantity and threw in some nice extras. Both sides were happy

As for which is rarer between rare and king Henry. I would
Go with rare since it was 3x king Henry in initial cost leading to fewer bottles bought per person and bring one year older

Goose Island has a full pallet stacked high with King Henry. Saw this back at a summer dock party. I drooled about it for months. Then I wondered when can I get a few more bottles of King Henry???? A guy can dream cant he?
