I think this basic model is the way to go. The wall-mounted ones are cool, too... But generally: the more gimmicky the bottle opener, the worse it is at opening bottles.

    Good luck figuring it out!

I usually use this one plus a quarter (to not bend the nice caps)

Much to the chagrin of my wife: my wedding ring.
I kid her and my friends all the time " It's the only reason I got married "

Love these! I have a ton of old rail ties laying around. I wish I had the equipment/skill to make these. Do you sell them?

What's wrong with just flicking the caps off with your thumb?

I found this Friendly Grain Belt one a few years back at a antique shop, been on my key ring and in regular use ever since.

I dig the Nuka Cola one. Brings back memories of wasting my life away with Fallout 3.

I use this one most often.

My little sister picked it up for me in Budapest and it doesn't bend the caps much if I'm careful with it. Otherwise I have a Bell's or Epic key chain one I use from time to time. That or my Wisconsin belt buckle with a bottle opener in it, but it looks better than it opens and you have to take it off to use it or risk making a complete ass of yourself.

The La Trappe opener is the best. You can get caps off without a single blemish.

Some really cool openers in this thread, thank you for sharing everyone!

Hotmetal1, if you should ever decide to sell your artwork, I would love to own one. And I'm sure many other BA's would as well!

The history is interesting, but kind of a long read. I'm sure jesskidden could summarize it in a couple paragraphs!

I can imagine some guy making a nickel a day plastering, having lunch and cracking a cold one and putting the opener down then covering it up with lathe and plaster. Other treasure we found was a pair of spectacles that date back to the late 1800's. A bottle opener is one thing, but losing a pair of Ben Franklins would have been a huge financial impact back in the day.

I have two like this - one for each fridge - I bought some magnetic tape and put two strips on the back of it running the length between the holes. It sticks perfectly to the fridge. To remove it from the fridge you just press down on the back to release it
