What would you say is your favorite hefeweizen that you can get in cans or bottles? I'm in love with love oak hefe. But id like to get something bottled so I don't have to get a growler.

Karbach I'm told does a pretty decent one of these in cans (insert joke about Matt not muling Crusian and I beer on his birthday)

    Love oak indeed.

Erdinger, Paulaner, Ayinger, Weihenstephaner...all phenomenal. Franziskaner is really classic for the style too.

No Label El Hefe is another pretty damn good local option, IMHO.

    Hah. True.

But yeah. I've had many of the beers you guys have mentioned, and I don't remember them being quite as swell. Any with lots of bubblegum in the flavor?

Not a hefeweizen... but have you ever had Ayinger Ur-Weiss? That's a very bubblegummy (is that a word?) Dunkelweizen (the darker cousin of hefe)

Yeah I've had both. Maybe I have a fucked up palette, but live oak tastes like straight up juicy fruit.

I prefer the Weisse Versa over Live Oak. I catch a lot of crap for saying it but it's an honest opinion coming from someone who thinks Karbach is very average at best.

Weedwacker and kellerwies would fit the bill as well to the ones mentioned above.

I love Weisse Versa. Obviously not a true hefe, though a very strong second behind Live Oak for Texas made stuff. I second Kellerwies and Weihenstephaner. Both of those are great. I do like Weedwacker, just not as much as the others already mentioned.

I like Wits too, but prefer Hefs for my wheat beer pleasure. Karbach does a good job with W-V, but it tastes closer to a Wit than a Hef for me.

And it's so, so good. Love Ayinger.

I go with Weisse Versa... I am not a fan at all of El Hefe.

    I like the Ayinger also.

Live Oak by far, nothing wrong with a growler of that stuff - close thread!

As far as Houston made and bottled go, I'll go with Weisse Versa with El Hefe as a substitute.

    Much love for Live Oak.

Schneider Organic Weisen Edel-Weisse is mighty tasty and has that bubble gum flavor. I've seen it at Spec's Smith St.

I like the German suggestions above and I would add Konig Ludwig Weiss which comes in a 6-pk. About as close to Live Oak in a bottle as I've been able to find.
