    Hi All,

Was fortunate enough today to pick up a few bottles of DFH 120 minute. I am planning on opening one when my son is born in a few weeks. Am I crazy to save/age a bottle for when my son turns 21?

I thought it would be a cool thing to do - thoughts?

You would need two bottles (one for you and one for your son) not just one bottle.

Congrats on the birth of your son, 21 years is along time but it will mean more to you 21 years from now then the taste of the beer so i say do it

be conservative, and get 3... just in case there's a 3rd person you want to share it with, or something goes wrong w/ one bottle.... phenomenal idea though!!!

I've never had 120 minute, but that would be pretty cool.

I mean, the beer would be completely undrinkable, but there would be something to be said for having a 21 year old beer on your 21st.

Says right on the label "age for a decade or so".

Very cool man, Congrats on his birth!!
Not sure how it will taste after 21 years but the thought alone makes it worth trying.
We just celebrated my oldest kids 18th birthday last weekend. They grow up fast...

I have one that been aging for two years. I have no idea when I want to open it. Just do whatever you want to do. You would not be crazy for holding it for twenty-one years. If it was me, I would save a barrel-aged stout. Just a suggestion. Also, congratulations.

Sierra Nevada had Bigfoot that had aged something like 26 years at Extreme Beer Fest a year or two ago.. Was still awesome, though I'm sure they aged it in a keg, not a bottle (though not sure what the exact difference would be)

DfH 120 is a beer to be experienced by BAs. There are probably some that really like it, but the extremely high ABV make it unlike any other IPA. I wouldn't recommend it for a 21 year old (unless his tastes are well developed by then).

That said, I love your idea and suggest that you consider a good stout or Belgium that ages well.

120 is undrinkable, fresh or aged.

I don't really like IPAs but I know people who do and they all seem to think it's not a style to age. I don't like sours but if you do I hear they age longer than most styles can any sour lovers confirm this?

Agreed. I plan on aging my 2nd bottle for 100 years. If I'm still alive I'll give it another whirl.

I had a 15 year old home brew once, it had no where near the malt bill or ABV of 120. I feel I can say with confidence that it would make it 21 years but I would wax seal that one pretty good just to be safe.

Sorry if I seem a bit thick, but what is the correlation between 120 Minute and wearing a skirt?

The next DFH beer is brewed with skirts.

It's actually a collaberation with Rogue, and it's a bearded skirt.
