    NEW BALEYWINE SUNDAY

We're back from dinner and my wife is off to bed early. A womans energy level seems to drop as she approaches her fourth trimester. Who knew? Anyway I'm left to myself to enjoy some light reading, Bob Dylan's Desire, and a barleywine with a silly name.

    Cheers and goodnight everyone!

    New Doppelbock Sunday

    Greetings NBS,

A rather chilly and somewhat raw day here in Southern, CT. The sun was out but so was the wind. Quite a busy weekend of getting stuff done and watching NCAA basketball and hockey. I could use one more day before Monday, but no one asked me.

A nice Doppelbock from Alaskan Brewing for NBS. This brewery has never disappointed me and I am fortunate to have buddy that has hooked me up with a few of their beers.

Those last few weeks were a good time and little did I realize I would be missing some of those fine brews for a short time after our daughter arrived. If you're like me you will find that the first month or two you may trade in that beer/reading/relaxation for an extra hour of sleep. Good luck to you sir.

    New IPA Sunday

Been looking around recently for a good new IPA to try at a few local packy stores, but havnt been able to find anything that caught my eye. Got a couple different ones just for the sake of trying something new, but nothing had wowed me. But, alas, there is always the brew that picks you back up when your down, and for me it is this completely new double IPA, Mad River Brewing Companies Steelhead Double IPA.

Smooth, piney, sweet, fruity, slight bitterness, and it all seems to be melting together perfectly. I'm glad I have another 5 of these.[IMG]

    New Stout Sunday

I had a lineup of stouts for St. Patty's Day. Had a Brooklyn Dry Irish Stout and Bell's Kalamazoo Stout (both new beers on a Sunday!), but the highlight for me was Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout. I'm annoyed that I didn't get around to trying this one sooner - I loved it!

Greetings fellow NBSers! A mostly dry and partly sunny Sunday here in the Fourth Corner, with temps in the mid to high 40's. I spent most of the week helping out at one of my local brewpubs, helping get their beer garden prepped and open for the season. Our local St. Pats day parade ends at the brewery, and I put in a 12 hour day yesterday doing set-up, prep, bussing tables and doing security during the party and tear-down and cleaning after. Then I went to one of my locals, where a former Bellingham brewer, Josh Pfriem, was doing a brewers night bringing his new brewery's (Pfriem Family Brewing) to town for the first time. Great beers, worth a trip to Hood River OR, for. It was great seeing Josh and Annie again. I have go to work and be the door guy for live music at the brewery tonight, so this will be my only NBS entry of the day, a pleasant, but not special beer. Have a great week everybody, and Cheers! http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/192/90533/?ba=beertunes

I know my life will change dramatically very shortly and I'm very excited to embrace that change. Having said that, I am making it a point to enjoy now the quiet moments I've always loved while I can. Beer won't be a part of my life for a time and I'm fine with that. I know the trade off will be far more than worth it. Cheers to your little girl.
