Don't get me wrong, this is an all right DIPA but I'm not sure what the hype is all about and the prices some stores are charging are just outrageous. One store here in Minneapolis broke up all their 4 packs and sold each bottle for over $5, just not worth it if you ask me.

I feel like Double Crooked Tree gets a bad rap because people expect something with a lot less thick malt and alcohol, like Pliny or Dreadnaught. DCT might be the truest of the DIPA's though, since Dark Horse doubled every ingredient in their regular Crooked Tree IPA recipe besides water.

A lot of retailers here in Chicago have been breaking up Plead the 5th and DCT into singles for the past couple years.

I'll second that, 5 for a single bottle is ridiculous, I think they charge 13 for the four pack at the brewery

I approach this beer as I would a triple IPA like Devil Dancer or 120 min. It's a heavy, malt forward sipper of a beer, and also ages pretty well. Nothing like most DIPA's on the market.

Yeah, not going to pay $20 for a 4-pack, but the beer is damn good.

i paid about 17 for a 4 pack and i was happy with the purchase. the beer didn't blow me away but it sure was good. first time buying from that particular establishment and the owner threw in a free duvel tulip...so all in all, very good value

I have skipped buying it so far. I could by ONE 4pk for $17 or just get TWO 4pks of New Glarus IIPA for $18. Hmmm....

I'd rather pay $5 for a single just to try it instead of $17 a 4pk. I've been looking.

Super expensive nail polish remover. Not as bad as Devil Dancer, but I don't see how people enjoy this stuff so much.

when I come across this "problem", I put it into these terms. What do they charge at a bar for it? $10? so then I say, hey, $5 for a 12% beer? Cheaper than the bar, sounds good to me!

    Too bad
Too bad it's the whole case, I haven't tried it yet and I'm not dropping that much on something I haven't tried. I should just email for the hell of it and see if they'll break it up...

I grabbed a 4 pack for 13.50, thought it was crazy good. That being said I only bought one because NG IIPA is under 9 bucks and a wee bit better to me. I find Double Crooked Tree to be the best of the 3 big Michigan DIPAs that make it out of the state, in order it would be (for my taste anyway)

I think NG IIPA is far more balanced
