I learned how to brew when I was in college (one of my room-mates taught me). At that time, there weren't that many great beers out there and so I brewed at home (for years). Sadly, I lost all of my brewing equipment in a flood and just never got around to replacing it. By that time, craft brew was becoming much more common and so I just started buying it instead of making it.

It is a great hobby and a very enjoyable intellectual pastime. At some point, I will get back into it.

I would have checked all of the above, but finally home brewed for the first time ever this week. Figured it was time to try it, and I'm off work this week. Now I just have to wait and see if I effed it all up! It was pretty fun and not as difficult as I thought it would be.

I home brewed for a while but would end up with so much beer that I felt like I needed an AA meeting. The beer was good but not a lot of my friends like anything but BMC. Plus I make a mess and the cleaning and screaming from the wife that it was never clean enough was enough to quit.

Nowhere near enough space - living in a tiny apt in an urban area (only 1 closet) with my family does not really give the required space. Maybe I'm just too lazy to constantly be moving stuff around (like in and out of the shower when it gets used).

Space, time, and I'm completely intimidated by the thought of it.

Time. Plain and simple. I have too many hobbies already. And brewing aint taking over fishing and hunting anytime soon.

I'm a casual homebrewer. I would still consider myself a beginner, having only brewed 3 batches, but whenever I've got a night free I'll start on the next.

You don't save money brewing your own, but you don't lose money either. In that respect, I totally understand people wanting to spend their hard-earned cash on something that they know is going to be good; but on the other hand it is very rewarding to drink your own stuff and have friends an family tell you that your beer is good.

The beer will always come out good if you put the work into it.

All of the above, but I don't like being stuck with lots of the same of anything (so I clicked other). I guess I would be called a ticker, but I just like trying new things all the time. Also, most beer is a ton of calories and I don't like to imbibe calories too often. However, I would like to start brewing up Kombucha (since there is less upfront and ongoing costs, since it reproduces a SCOBY each time and is healthy). Lots of other interests. My friend has done his own "moonshine" though.

I want to and I've been reading into it, but I'm holding off due to time and financial contraints.

I am interested in it, I just feel like I need to do more research before I'm ready.

Anyone can follow instructions on some ingredient box and make a shitty beer, but I want to know WHY I'm doing the things I'm doing. Once I feel I truly understand the basic concepts, I will start brewing away.

My wife says I have too much beer as it is, along with a two-tap kegerator. If I spent my free time making beer, she would leave me and probably take 1/2 my beer to punish me. I can't be away from that kid of mine!

I live in an apartment so no space. Time would also be an issue.

Why is Time not an option. I do brew beer, but when I can't it is because of the volume of time it takes to brew. I am working on a RIS atm that is sitting in the secondary right now with bourbon soaked oak chips and it took me months to get to it because it is a big time investment. Brew day, Racking, Bottling/Kegging, that is a boat load of time.

The same reason that I don't farm... I'd rather pay someone else to do it for me.

About a month ago, I would have chosen "All of the above."

Now, I can't even answer the poll because I jumped in, and brewed my first beer a couple weeks ago.
A Vanilla Imp Stout w/ Vanilla bean & Oak chips soaked in Blanton's bourbon whiskey. It's been pretty exciting throughout the process.

I've homebrewed a couple of times but it's mainly with my buddy who bought all the equipment/etc. I'll usually buy the ingredients and we'll split the batch.

The reason I don't do it is because it takes 8 hours of your Saturday/Sunday.
