I'm most impressed that on a day when you drank 14 craft beers you were able to keep track of how many beer you had. Good Work.

Damn - you must have a super memory, like Marilu Henner.

I can't even remember what I drank last Friday, let alone what I drank on March 4th.
And I only drink 1 or 2 on weeknights, maybe 3 or 4 on Fri/Sat.

Some days I have one beer. Then the next day I might have none, or two or more. Sometimes just one, though. Often times I will go several days, and in some cases, over a week without having a drink. Sometimes I go several weeks without a drink, but most often not. On some occasions I will have many drinks and feel pretty poorly the next day, so I do not partake of any drink that day. Although having a drink that following day tends to take the edge off. There have been instances of many drinks each day over many consecutive days. If I am dieting or trying to achieve a fitness goal I may drink much less than usual, maybe one particularly rare bomber per week. I find that I drink more on the weekends, often in the company of friends. If I have an important meeting or appointment and need to be especially sharp I will not drink the day or night before. If I am just thirsty I opt to drink water or root beer over beer. I almost never drink alone, but sometimes do if I have a really rare brew and do not want to share. If I am at a music concert I will not drink - I like to be perspicacious during said events so I can thoroughly enjoy the subtle nuances of the death metal I am listening to, as well as be aware of any incoming elbows or fists while in the pit. I do not drink at work, and have never consumed alcohol while driving.

I count calories so as to not gain back any of the 45 pounds I lost last year, so I usually allocate about 800 calories per day for beer, more if I exercise. So, could be a couple Heady toppers or several dales pale ales.

Some days one, and some day 3 or 4 depending. I try to not drink at least one day a week, but that isnt always successful. I have started trying new beers and I will visit the liquor store multiple times a week to see if there is something I havent had before or something that I really like.

I have two ways of reading into this post:

Option 1- You really do keep track of your consumption with a calendar.

Option 2- You took way too much time to formulate a b.s. response.

Either way, it's not the amount you're consuming that has me bothered/curious, it's the way in which you are seemingly recording it.

If you are in fact recording your beer consumption; may I ask why?

He will be able to give his doctor a true answer when they ask, "Typically how much alcohol do you consume."

    "Well doc, I'm averaging 6.071429 beers/day over 28 days."

Well done sir, respec! Doing it right indeed. If I had to guess, someone is journaling?

To the op; I work in a bottle-shop. My daily consumption is probably more than your average person. Between samples of new breweries/beers available to order from distributors/importers, beer that tourist/visitors bring us , homebrews, and beers that we trade for/collect to drink ourselves...well, let's just say that there is a lot of beer floating around/sampled at work. Granted, I would say between all of these various ways of obtaining beer, there is about a 25% chance that we will pour the beer, take a sip, take another, and then drain-pour it. There is not nearly enough time to get to the good stuff, let alone drink the decent at best stuff.

An average day looks like this; before/with lunch, my boss and I will share 75cl-100cl worth of beer. Could be one large bottle, could be 3 small bottles (samples from european breweries of 33cl each), etc. Not a day goes by, we dont at least split one beer. Yesterday was quite minimal; we split a 50cl bottle of homebrew from a friend. Some days, shit can get crazy. A few weeks back we had Garrett Oliver and Co. hang with us for lunch and then had a Brooklyn tasting in our shop. Numerous special bottles of both our beers and theirs were opened and enjoyed. Days like those are not uncommon, but don't happen more than once of twice a month.

In regards to my beer consumption at home. Unless my wife feels like sharing something with me, I will enjoy a large format (60-75cl) bottle of a lower abv/sessionable beer and then have a small bottle I call a "dessert" beer (quad, imperial stout, barleywine, etc.) I think that it is a perfect amount where I am able to enjoy a few beers, barely catch a buzz, and call it a night having enjoyed something I love; beer.

For example, last night was a 75cl bottle of my favorite beers; Cuvee des Jonquilles. One glass while making dinner, one with dinner. For dessert was an ABT 12 and slice of homemade cheesecake.

yes, I journaled my beer consumption for a month. It can be found here:
    http://www.hipforums.com/modules/Journal/viewentry.php?journalid=4139

I did it out of boredom and curiosity of how much I really drank. As you can see I logged every beer I drank and finally created a spreadsheet to tabulate those entries.

and aside from March 2nd I didn't get drunk once. I only get drunk when my neighbor comes over. He makes home made Whisky and Tequila and loves craft beer so we'll start talking and drinking...

otherwise, I HATE to get drunk. I prefer a mild buzz, that 's why I drink a lot of Honker's, 4.2% abv.

I get home from work 4-430 and have 2 or 3 Honker's. After dinner I drink 2 or 3 more beers which at this time of the year has been Porters, Brown Ales or sometimes Guinness. On weekends, especially Sundays I tend to drink 'Big Beers' like Imperial Stouts, Barley Wines, Belgians, etc.

I drink alot but beer is my passion. I have Parkinson's Disease and really am limited in the activities I can do. I can't do anything with my hands, they shake too badly, I can't do strenuous exercise like weight lifting, even walking and standing for long periods is an ordeal. So, I watch sports, hang out on beer advocate and I drink beer.

    cheers!

I'd be careful allocating 800 calories per day for beer. Once the diet motivation starts to dwindle, it will be very easy to gain weight if you are adding 800 calories on top of your daily food consumption.

I've lost 47 pounds over the last two years and found it easy to have beer in your diet, as long as you don't have it during the week. Between Monday and Thursday, I probably operate at a 1,800 calorie deficit, which I end up consuming in beer between Friday and Sunday. If I really want a beer on a Wednesday, I make myself run over 5 miles to "pay for it" in calories.

Is 150+ beers typical of a month? I'd consider doing some calorie to abv calculations to maximize your buzz and minimize your caloric intake.

I believe when I did this, Guinness Extra Foreign Stout had the best ratio (176 calories to 7.5%) aside from the corn light lagers. Honkers Ale has 154 calories for just 4.2%.

You can still have good tasting beer, but you easily trim 6,000 to 7,000 calories (2 pounds worth) per month if you analyzed what you drank. Over the course of a year, that could equate to 25 pounds.

Typically 1 beer on weeknights unless I meet people for happy hour or my homebrewers group gets together. On weekends it's usually around 2-3 including a few bombers, but I'm almost always sharing those with my dad or friends.
