You wont have to worry about me buying any of this or the founders doom.

I appreciate this point, but i think the argument could be made that stuffing a beer into bourbon barrels isn't thinking out of the box anymore.

sure, definitely debatable, but not really the point i was trying to get across. the post i was replying to sort of questioned the logic of trying stuff outside conventional wisdom. i'm saying, although it may be a nontraditional process, you never know what could result until you try.

I was thinking old gin barrels might be good.

I was at the Stone Company Store in Pasadena on Saturday and I didn't see any. However, there were 4 other brand new releases from this series in the coolers.

Brew dog did this, awful. Great Lakes did it....awful. So yeah, I don't think it will be good and I doubt I can try it without great cost and see examples of past attempts at this. And given most of these hard to get beers are normally drool worthy sounding, meh it's nice this one sounds bad to be honest. Less money for me to spend.

I went ahead and scooped some up on Sunday. I'll give it a spin this Friday night with an open mind and come back to this thread with results. Cheers

I hate it when breweries think outside the box and innovate

I would love to try both, but I am so sad that I missed out on the 10th Anniv. Ruination (one of my favorite beers and sort of got me on the path to craft beer). Too bad that is something that needs to be had fresh.

I think that spirit- or wine-barrel aging beers has run it's course. I say brewers look to other barrels for their aging needs, like pickle barrels or... kimchi?

Check out practically any DFH thread and you'll see many on this site hate experimentation and innovation.

Yeah, but the problem is that the asking price is going to be stupid even though this beer on track to be a failure. The problem won't be greedy BA bullshit, but rather Stone for not producing enough despite more than enough capacity to do so.

Ugh I am really annoyed with the snobbyness of people when they hear bba ipa. Its not a waste of ruination. Ruination is everywhere. Go biy a nottle if your scared stone wasted the last one. They didnt. Oh btw bourbon barrels will still be available too. Stop judging before you taste.

I traded 3 $4$. Some asshole up in Orange County is trying to sell some of the older Quingenti's for $100 a bottle, on craigslist. I nearly fell over laughing. He wasn't even selling the Macadamia Nut Porter or Cherry Stout either. Just the two infected IRS' which he claimed were fine, and a BA 2009 Double Bastard.

But anyways. Anyone who tries to pro-rate these things is a joke. $4$ is worth it to some, not to others. But anymore than what stone is charging isn't worth any of the ones they've released thus far. (Except arguably the Cherry Choc. Stout and Macadamia Nut Porter)
