They are not extras, they are compensation for services. There is a huge difference you clearly are not grasping.

"Remember us. As simple an order as a king can give. Remember why we died. For he did not wish tribute or song. Nor monuments, nor poems of war and valor. His wish was simple: remember us, he said to me. That was his hope. Should any free soul come across that place in all the countless centuries yet to be may all our voices whisper to you from the ageless stones. Go tell the Spartans, passerby. That here, by Spartan law, we lie.
And so my king died and my brothers died barely a year ago."

...AND YOU PEOPLE SPEAK OF TRUSTEES?!?!? *runs away weeping*

I wish Upland had people pay up front for bottles like The Bruery does. Would have screwed over so many people during Sour Reserve pickups and been done with this timesuck of a website.

Right, and if you agree to a trade with someone, and you ship your end but they never ship theirs(bad trader), thats somehow different? :astonished:

Trustee is just an extension of trading, they usually receive a gfit box or atleast compensation.

Yeah I picked up some Blackberry and Raspberry for a guy in CA but the guy only wanted all them if he got Persimmon too. He tells me this after I pick up the bottles that I had to pay for.

Biggest gripe as a trustor is not hearing back from people I onetime trustee/mule for. Just give me peace of mind that everything arrived safe and sound.

Also, not that its happened, but for fellow trustees in this thread, how do/did you handle bottles breaking in shipping? I encase every bottle I send in carbonate (thanks lando!), but with fed ex/ups still you never know.

Unlike trading, not the trustees problem unless it's due to not using enough tape to seal the box. Note that this assuming styroshippers, which everyone should be using IMHO.

ps: For added paranoid level, use 12 styroshippers but only put 8 bottles in the box (corners empty). This is what I have my trustee do.

for the people i actually trustee for, i use a 12 styro, bubblewrap, newspaper, and packing peanut combo such that every bottle is completely stuck in place. I pack in such a way that i have to throw my body weight (or like 50 plates you lift bro?) on the top of the styro, then tape the halves in place just so it fits in the box. It hasnt come up yet, but given that shipping is a numbers game i'm curious if its come up for anyone else.

As long as the beer is packed in a styo shipper and gets in the FedEx/UPS computer system with a tracking number, the Trustee's responsibility ends there.

I completely agree with the first part. I am on pins and needles until I hear everything made it safely.

As far as the second part. The only time I have had something break was when i muled for a beer and then offered to go on a shopping spree for the guy. One of the bottles broke in transit, but it was using his shipper. The box must have been completely damaged as FedEx repacked everything in a new box. At first the other guy was wondering why i didn't use his shipper.

As a trustee/mule I promise to pack things as well as possible, but not be held reliable for breakage. Otherwise it isn't worth it for me to be a trustee, I am not going to try to replace a CR or GM. The people I ship to can insure the box for more if they want (I had one person who wanted that), otherwise each box I put down has the standard $100 value. Also, I request that the person sends me shippers, that way I am not responsible for the style or condition of the shipper (though, once I did tell one of the people that a shipper he sent arrived to me in rough shape and I didn't feel comfortable using it).

I always put large allotment or easily replaceable bottles in the corners. The prized bottles go in the two center slots. And I try to mix and match boxes (spread out the BT, M3, CR, etc, into different boxes/shipments)

and I cry evertiem; get nuffin' from some guys I trustee for :flushed: they just send me empty styros to fill (though some of my friends hook me up, and I love you guys! You know who you are)

I didn't ask for anything going into it, but driving out there (about an hour trip out and back), organizing all the beer, and packing does take a lot of time, tape, and space. I guess I don't mind it, but I want to know that I'm appreciated every once in a while.

at least make those fools paypal you the cost of your tape/bubblewrap. then, after you've shipped allocations, drop them. thats out of control.
