    Good morning good people,

Light rain with chirping birds mixes with the typing sounds of an iPad currently. Everything is awakening and will settle into a forecasted windy and mostly cloudy 50F here in Mid-MI. We've experienced a true start of spring since last Thursday ushered in glorious sunshine, the first motorcycle ride on Friday, a local brewpub visit yesterday, and various west Michigan growler fills in between. And I haven't even bought an Oberon.

Took a short trip to Grand Rapids, MI (Beer City, USA) Thursday to grab a bite and a couple pints at HopCat. Their Rosemary Chicken Salad wrap and their Zuggsptize (sp?) Hefe (brewed on site) made for the official inaugural brewpub combo of this beautiful spring weather. Headed over to Founders for a FRESH Reds Rye (yes, I will always call it 'Red's Rye') and chatted with a cool couple from Chicago who were visiting for the KBS release. None for me, thanks. I'll bypass the craziness and procure a fair share from long-time retailers from years past. Perrin was my last stop, where Charlee the bartender custom mixed me some delicious brews. I was so impressed that I had her fill a couple growlers of her impressive blends. Gotta love G-Rap! Funny, the whole time I was there, I never saw an Oberon.

Friday was great getting my Moto Guzzi, and my wife - her Harley, out of storage and jacking our first ride of 2013. Sunny and chilly. Very chilly. Chimay White and Orval helped remove said chill and also dull the pain of my MSU Spartans loss. Short's Hopstache is on the shelves and very tasty. Oberon is on sale at Meijer for $7/sixer. No thanks.

The wife and I are hosting Easter lupper (lunch-supper) and will be rooting on the last Big Ten team. I don't know if I'll be able to fit in a new beer if I open my fresh growler of Red's Rye. My family (still) are not craft fans, so ill have to take down 64 oz. all by myself. Not that anyone has to twist my arm. As for you all, I hope you are enjoying this gorgeous holiday with family & friends, along with fresh craft brew and spectacular food. If not all, at least one or two of the aforementioned components. And if, to keep with the splendid NBS spirit, it involves a NEW beer, please tell us all about it - AFTER you've drunk it. Maybe it will be a Short's Hopstache? Maybe a Founders KBS. But I doubt it will be an Oberon  Good day and good drinkin'.

In the undying spirit of craft beer,

    malty

I have quite a few new ones just waiting to be opened today. We host a little "lupper" ourselves, and I am chilling the Bruery Saison De Lente for dinner. Really looking forward to it. This will be my 2nd Bruery beer. As the day goes along, I may crack into a FW Reserve Porter as my cigar brew on the porch as its a nice day out there.

Happy Easter, believers and nonbelievers !
Sunny time, LI reporting in. Beautiful day - comfortably cool, mostly sunny...

No better way than to start the day with an Allagash Curieux...
2013 bottling. Hope you don't mind me slipping this one through the net - it's new to me this year...
As I updated my review, I realized that this beer never slips. Allagash has created an amazing drink here. It's right up there with Westmalle (*cue angel chorus*) and Karmeliet, but I tend to think of it differently because its been barrel-aged (*cut to: rowdy angelic choir*). So good... Delicious, boozy, pale fruits forward. An indulgence for sure.

My wife picked up People, Hell and Angels, a recent (posthumous) Hendrix "album" for me this Easter (yes, we give each other Easter baskets... lol).
So I'm pairing my Curieux with a little bit o' Jimi this fine Easter Sunday morning...

    Let 'er rip!

BTW, neither of these tracks is on the album - its just where the album led me...

    Peace!

Hello and Happy Easter fellow NBS'ers. Getting some outside cleanup done, a burnpile and general grab what the winds blew while drinking from a growler that is just the definition of local goodness. I am inside now for a moment, trusting the brisk wind hasn't caught the pile and lit the woods, haha. Hope you also have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

    Greetings and Happy Easter!

It looks like I'm in early today thanks to this beauty: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1199/58914/?ba=NiceTaps

I wanted a sessionable IPA for Easter so I could enjoy the day and the beer w/o feeling the effects. All Day Ipa found me this holiday and I'll find a place for it in the beer fridge, it's a keeper.

As for the weather here at the Jersey Shore, it's just more of same drawn out long Winter-like Spring; cool, cloudy, rain on the way later today.

    Cheers!

    Spring Break!!! Ooouuuwww!!!

West MI is sporting semi-cloudy skies with temps on the mid-40's.

Having a great Easter. Went up the Lakeshore for a family Easter Egg Hunt and lunch. Got in a decent run. Time for fun with the kids in the yard. Now on to a tasty brew from TC before wrapping up the night with a marathon catch-up of "Girls" (semi-guilty pleasure) with my awesome wife.

Greetings fellow NBSers! A bright, sunny, warm day here in the Fourth Corner with temps pushing 70. It's Opening Day for our National Pasttime, the long darkness is over! The Astros move into the AL West this year, almost guaranteeing that local 9 won't be last this year. And my friemd is in Alaska for roller derby, so I get to spend a couple days with my "nephew", the Mastiff/Rottweiller mix, we've had a good walk so far, with more ahead of us.

My first entry is a nice little Pils from a regional brewery that's finally starting to show up around me with some regularity:http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22536/83243/?show_hads=N

On a side note, I would like to thank all of you for comments and notes of support last week, they were all much appreciated.

It's finally a sunny, warmish, windy day here in Chicago. Really a lovely Easter Sunday to spend with the nephew & family. We're eagerly awaiting the arrival of my niece (although I think my poor SIL is more egars than any of us for the kid to be born.).

We're doing a family bottle share and my contribution was Spiteful's Burning Bridges.

    NEW FRUIT BEER SUNDAY
    Greetings, fellow NBSers,
It's 65 degrees on a bright, sunshiny day in the largest city between Seattle and Minneapolis. As I was up quite late last night, I happily slept in today, took my time eating a late breakfast and tackled some chores. Making some headway, I decided it was time for a beery reward - a canned collaboration between Maui Brewing Co. and Dogfish Head:
I seem to have liked it more than most. While I admit to usually avoiding fruit beers, I found it a refreshingly different beer. Now for a local IPA growler!

I swung by my friend Justin's house earlier with my nephew Gunner, and he took a break from yard work and we split this bottle. Neither of us were impressed in the least, and I'm wondering how this mess gets such high scores here on BA. If you need proof of grade inflation in ratings, this beer is it: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/13307/56842/?ba=beertunes
