I met Urbain two weeks ago and asked him about it. Still not sure when he will fill the 75 centiliter bottles. Most likely will be after march because he is very busy with other projects and he also told me that they are working on the machine which icebocks the beer...patience!

A little birdy told me that there is a stockpile of Messy (multiple kegs) in the basement of a certain bar in London. Why do the brits have all the fun. I need to have a Struise beer named after me. Perhaps T&S? Tender and Succulent?

Not exactly a stockpile, but two kegs of it. I was shown them, but I'd betray their trust if I revealed its location :grinning:

Struise is probably one of the least punctual brewers ever when it comes to release dates. I'm still hoping the March 30th release is correct, because I'd have to take a day off work to get there.

Haha, I must've misread you were considering sending American sours to someone who lives an hour's drive away from Belgium? Puh-lease!

I live within 45 minutes of Brussels and delicious sours, but still have some American sours coming my way. They may not touch Cantillon, but still worth trying. Now if Double Black will get released soon, I will jump for joy.

Tendermorsel was joking. Thijs and his merry band of brewhahaheyheyians are well known for their anti-sour policies. Equal opportunity lambic haters, I believe their antipathy extends to Belgian sours as well as American.

However, open a Black Tuesday in a remote Finnish fishing village and you'll likely see them there, tasting glasses in hand.

That being said, I've had the chance to taste some of the most highly acclaimed American sours and I feel none of them come even remotely close to some of the most run of the mill lambics and blends here. They tend to lack complexity for me. I used to be big time anti-sour, but I came round and now love the occasional lambic/gueuze/kriek/framboise/... American sours just aren't my cup of tea, it seems.

But hey, you guys generally have a WAY better understanding of how to do the big beers (stouts/barleywines/DIPAs/...) that I love so dearly. To each their specialty I guess. That doesn't mean we shouldn't keep experimenting. I'd fight for the Americans' right to release inferior sours any day of the week. Ya know, in the hopes of them getting better at it

I can send nice BA stouts/barleywines/dipas for sours to anyone who wants to set up a quartetly or bi annually trade (bigger trade)15-20 bottles.
