Well its that time of year again, folks.

Time to find the wallet, grab your binoculars, refresh your twitter feeds, start calling uninformed binnys employees and start chasing trucks! And dont forget pants this time!

But yeah, figured I'd just start the thread...

Heard that DG Binnys will most likely receive and release at 5 tomorrow. Whilst Willowbrook not til friday.

The reception in Glunz's parking lot is terrible.

Waiting for reports of $9.99/bottle and/or $39.99 four packs in and around Chicagoland this year.

Count me out as well. There's something not right about this year's batch. I've drank through a 4-pack already and it's not the same beer. Lots of chocolate and coffee but very dry/oaky. Not sure if they even used "first-use" bourbon barrels this year as I can barely detect any bourbon sweetness up front nor any of the sweet vanilla notes you normally get from the barrel.

Really, it just tastes like an imperial version of their regular breakfast stout. Still a great beer.

Clearly, the difference is the fact that it is now 'A FLAVORED STOUT' vs. 'A STOUT ALE' and it is now 'GOOD FOR EVERYTHING A FLAVORED STOUT OUGHT TO BE GOOD FOR' vs. being 'GOOD FOR EVERYTHING A STOUT OUGHT TO BE GOOD FOR.'

wow thats weird, I had one and let it mellow out and the bourbon came out really strong as it warmed up. I thought it was just as normally, beautifully balanced between the coffee, chocolate, and bourbon as it was in years past, if anything a pinch hotter on the finish. I guess I'll just sit back and wait for what the rest of the folks think.....we're only a few days away from someone saying its infected.

The one I had last night clocked in to have a great bourbony vanilla oak (light oak) character (along with a sh* ton of coffee and chocolate, but in that good sh** ton way), and wasn't hot. It was f'n awesome.

With the upped production, could there be barrel variance? My monies on different palates, but BA is all about objective beer tasting.

That's funny. When I walked in Shorewood Wine and Spirits it was 9.99 a bottle. I gave him a thumbs up and a cool story, bro while walking out.

And....we have a winner! The first $9.99/bottle sighting. Only took an hour and a half to locate. Wow.

Last year's was bourbon forward and hot. Thought it was great fresh, and maybe even better once it mellowed after about 8-9 months after the coffee faded out to let the vanilla notes shine.

This year is all coffee and chocolate and dry oak. I really had trouble picking up any of the bourbon. Others will surely disagree , but that was my experience. Still a fantastic beer at an incredible value of $19 per 4-pack.

Yeah, not arguing with ya. We're all *********s after all. What you described is exactly what I got last year also.

I had my first sighting of it today while at one of my regular stops, well actually it was whispered to me by the guy working the counter. Single bottles, didn't ask price because i passed. But they're usually good about charging a fair price.

Is there any BCS still sitting around in Chicagoland? I really like KBS but I did the drive up to Michigan on a day off last week so I feel like I gotta step away from the truck-chase and let some other folks have some. But I would definitely be chasing down some more BCS if it is anywhere.
