Is there such thing as a "hop-forward" lager? Admittedly, I'm one of those boring people who basically drink nothing but IPA's and hoppy ambers. Hops and I are on very friendly terms... Am I missing a whole class of hoppy beers? Or, if not, why?

Jack's abby has all kinds of hop forward lagers, such as hoponious union, which is fantastic.

The aforementioned Jack's Abby stuff for sure. Also, grab the more available Sam Adams Double Agent ("Imperial Pale Lager").

What lager-like characteristics can you actually taste in the DA? With its American hop characters it may as well be just another IPA.

To the O.P., stick with a good Pils and you'll get the noble hop characteristics (spicy or grassy, maybe a touch lemony) and the good bready malt backbone.

If you need an IPA hoppininess... stick with an IPA, more than enough of those to go around.

If you can find it, Bell's Quinannan Falls is right up your alley.

... those are all I can speak on, and they're great for the hops (but not American IPA/citrusy style). Sympathy is the best American-made lager I've had yet but still waiting to try Prima Pils.

Yeah, sort'a sorry I didn't get to try it. Then Again, New Glarus Edel Pils is back on the trucks!

Northern German style Pilsners are typically hoppy:

    From Germany: Jever, Flensburger
From US craft breweries: Victory Prima Pils, Sly Fox Pikeland Pils, Troegs Sunshine Pils and Stoudt’s Pils is pretty hoppy too.

A number of people made posts about American Pale Lagers which are hoppy: Sam Adams Double Agent, beers from Jacks Abby, etc.

    Cheers!

P.S. It is indeed a shame that Bell's Quinannan Falls is no longer being brewed. That was indeed a very tasty American Pale Lager!
