Evanston 1st Liquors started doing that a little over a year ago. Direct your business elsewhere.

There was still a little over a case left when i punched out at 6 and successfully thwarted a couple trying to get a second round of it...so i'd guess at least an hour and a half.

Protip: I've yet to forget a face that's tried to go through my lines twice.

It actually wasnt Evanston first, but Ive heard similar things about them. I actually called them about KBS today, but the guy on the phone was almost unintelligible. Which is fine, just dont have him answering the phone haha.

They have a good selection but I hate that crap. A nearby place in Rogers Park does the same thing, said they had BCBS Coffee, I walk in and it is wrapped with a bottle of Madame Rose for $50.

Edit: actually it's illegal to sell singles in Evanston. There is an ordinance. The goal was to prevent bums and alcoholics from going in and buying singles or 40s but it gets applied to expensive craft beer that bums will never buy.

Really? They had singles of all the DFH bombers, etc there. Actually I think I bought singes of BCBS there a while back...

And actually we might be talking about the same store, I always assumed that was still Evanston not Rogers Park, but this was the place with the Coffee and Rose packaged deal.

Sounds like sexism to me. At the very least, clasissm, racism, or some other -ism. You should be ashamed.

Yep! Discount Liquors or something like that.

So yeah, if anyone is really desperate for some KBS, they had like 4 bottles. Each packaged with somethin else, I cant recall what. But its also limit 1 per customer.

It's been said several places that they made 3x the KBS this year, which is true --> The tripled production is sitting in bourbon barrels and won't be ready until 2014.

Remember that this year's batch of KBS was brewed in 2012.

Looks like this was hashed out in the other thread, and Founders did promise 3x production for 2013 after last year's KBS day. Seems like they also increased that footprint considerably, so who knows if markets got any more this year.

This wins as the most clever "-ism" joke of the 2013 release!

BM me to let me know when you can drop in to buy a bottle of cellared King Henry, if you're so inclined.

Lush Wine & Spirits on Chicago had about 10 bottles left at 5:10pm. Picked one up for $7.

    Noble Grape sold out yesterday.
Tabbs (Nevada) has not received any.
Puerto Rico Foods & Liquor has not received any.
Grand & Western said they did not receive any but they would all go to regulars if they did.

Foremost is run by a bunch of scoundrels. Same jokers who tried charging $20 for a sixer of Zombie Dust.

That Foremost isn't far from my place, surprised its that much. Got a Black Note there for $8 or $9, and I always laugh when I see the Zombie Dust in there for $20 in the cooler, probably really old since no one buys it.

Yep. I saw on Beermenus you they must have gotten a case of Cherry Rye in. They had them at 49.99. Still gone within an hour.

The bottom line is we can either complain that things are rare and hard to purchase, or we can complain that they are too expensive. But not both...
