Stopped at a totally out of the way joint today, thought I was going to strike out when I saw a 4-pack of BCBS. Grabbed one went up to the counter and noticed it was 2009!!!. Grabbed the other three 4-packs on the shelf. The guy behind the counter asked if I liked the stuff - and came out of the back with a 4-pack of 2008!?!?!? My most epic haul ever. Wish I had my camera with me.

Gnomegang - an all-time fave I didn't think I'd ever see again (hadda buy 2 even though its pricey)
Lunch, from the Maine Beer Company - an IPA bottled on 3/26 - so fresh! Gonna drink that tonight
And hey, of course I'm gonna pick up my share of KBS (2-bottle limit in my area)

I'm super excited about this trade! Oh and that's my cat Moe loving the attention....

 

On Thursday last week, my girlfriend and I went to an event at the Canadian Embassy here in Washington, DC where several craft brewers from Ontario brought their beer for people to sample(my girlfriend works at the embassy; only staff, brewery reps and a small number of guests were able to attend). All of it was in bottles or cans, and every person was given very generous samples; the glasses were average sized wine glasses and the servers filled them nearly to the top every time. On top of getting to sample free beer, the staff was able to split up the left over beer after the event. I cannot tell you how excited I was/am. I got to sort through all sorts of goodies and bring them all home. I have now been introduced to Canadian craft beer that isn't Unibroue, and it was all FANTASTIC. Here's what I got:

All of that beer...for FREE. All of the beer I tried was excellent, and I'm super excited to get the opportunity to try even more great beer. Gruits? Chocolate Cranberry Stouts? When would get to try these otherwise? Very, very good haul
