KBS in MA

I love Jack's Abby too and have yet to try KBS or BA Framminghammer, but I find it hard to believe that FH will have as much coffee flavor as KBS. Might not matter to people who enjoy the bourbon aspect more, but as someone who loves coffee stouts, there's a reason I'm hunting for KBS and not just any high quality bourbon bbl aged stouts...

 

You having no basis for compairsion makes your stand a pretty solid one. Somewhere in time someone said the same thing about KBS not having (insert whatever here) as another beer and look at it now.

 

...the base beer for FH is a baltic porter, the base beer for KBS is a coffee stout. I'm not saying FH isn't as good as KBS for this reason, I'm just saying I think I'll enjoy KBS more since coffee stouts are my thing...

 

No need to hold bottles. The place seems to be very slow to hold beer. I'm sure there won't be an issue if you get there this evening.

 

There is just as much hyperbole surrounding Founders beer IMO.

 

Don't disagree about their selection being the best in Back Bay and Fenway. When the woman who works there referred me to Tom, he was also very nice. I have never felt very welcomed when I walk through the wine section, and the two questions I have asked about certain wines have been met with "No. We don't have that here."

Not sure why you're disputing the coffee stout part. The base beer is an Imperial Stout with coffee and cacao nibs, similar to Breakfast Stout.

 

My comment about substituting BBA Framinghammer for KBS was not to say they're the same beer. They're not, they're different. One is much sweeter and more dessert-like. My point was that for the people who don't score any KBS, Framinghammer can provide solace as a delicious consolation prize that's easier to get...especially if you're just looking for that fix of something that sat in bourbon barrels. To me, while they're different, they scratch the same itch.

In stock at river street whole foods in Cambridge. 1 case. Gotta ask for it. It's pretty quiet there so you have a decent shot. Although while I was there I saw 3 different people ask for it. We're any of you there around 12:30?

I've been by Pemberton Farms, had no idea how good it is. Great beer selection too. You have to ask for kbs by name. They have it stashed away behind Heineken or something like that. BA framinghammer there too.

 

I'm not disputing or dismissing that KBS has coffee in it, of course it does. My point was someone comparing characteristics of two beers which they have never consumed is ridiculous.

 

At this point I gotta ask . . . are some of you unemployed?

 

If you find out when please let me know because I work in the tower and would take my lunch break at 3 if thats when its tapped.

 

Yea I dont have the time to go to every nook and cranny of boston to find this stuff like some of you guys.
