I look at the ISO:FT forum and I realized that its no in order. There are threads from yesterday and today on the first page with varying time stamps, not of which are in any particular order. I went to look at my thread, that I just posted yesterday, and its already on page 7. Also you can't bump, so what are you supposed to do, no ones going to see my thread on page 7. Does it auto bump after a certain amount of time? It would be silly to have to start a new thread everytime to get some more visibility, and Im sure its probably frowned upon anyway.
1) You can sort the threads according to Title (subject of thread), Start Date (when the thread was started), Replies (# of replies), Views (# of views), and Last Message (most recent reply). Try messing with these to get your threads back in "order". 2) "Bumping" of threads was fixed a while back. Respond to your thread as many times as you want....it's not going to jump to the top of the forum. That's by design.
Yeah ive been away fro a bit and in the trading section even less. Well I don't know about this place but other places a FS/FT thread on page 7 of a forum is basically dead. Its not me Im worried about I know whats in the thread. I just want to make sure other people can see it easily. There is a lot of stuff flying around right now and there is a good chance my thread will get missed.
I understand that and I'm not saying mine is anymore important, but so you just have to get lucky that you put your thread in there at the right time someones looking for it, because there are 5 more right behind you that are going to bump you down the page. For example, I'm looking for KBS, great...so is everyone else. I post at 9am, by 1pm I'm on page 4 and there are 6 new KBS threads. I've been "waiting" longer but if someones there looking I lose out because 9 times out of ten they're not going to look at all the KBS threads. They will pick the first one they feel they can make a deal with and go with it. Honestly I don't know if there is any good way to do it. Every option has its flaws. It just seems that with the current way you would have a lot of people just making new threads every couple days and that would clutter up the forum. I don't know the mods policy on that though if they delete the dupes or what, but I would imagine its difficult to track. There is another forum Im on, not beer related, that has a marketplace. The threads have a timer and you get a bump button every 48 hours. Seems like a decent system. I was just curious because I noticed it last night.
The key to posting an ISO without bumping limitations is to post a "Why isn't my trade done yet, it seems fair, I can't understand, please everyone post their thoughts until I get a BM with a trade offer" in the "Beer Trading General/Help" forum. It disguises an ISO and will help get the trade done.
I have confidence that the hardcore traders make it to page 7. Every Thursday night after my programs I like to pop some corn and sort the ISO:FT forum by # of replies. More action than an episode of Game of Thrones.
That really wasn't my intention, it was my intention to get a better understanding of how the FT forum works and if and how threads are bumped. I did a little searching and I also saw people talking about starting a new thread if theirs fell too far down in a day or two and I didn't think that was right either. It was curiosity. Thanks for the sentiment though and jumping to a conclusion.
It wasn't a joke about you, unless you've done that a bunch in the past and I just missed it. It was a joke in general about what many other people do to help get their trade a lot of attention. Just like you did right there, I was using sarcasm.
Well sorry then, it came off as aimed at me. But yeah I can see people doing that and then coming here and saying I did a thread to try and get some Bramble or something, what do I need to do lol. But no I'm not in here a ton and I don't do that. I try to follow the rules and use good etiquette whenever possible. Its rather build good relationships with long standing partners then have a ton of one offs. I just don't really have the extra money to do a ton of trading right now, it's kind of expensive especially starting up.
