I agree about Oberon. My favorite part of that beer is the label. Overrated as a whole...eh, maybe, but they still put out some nice beers.

I feel their entire line is overrated, especially Hopslam

If we played that game there would actually be more styles that Founders doesn't brew that Bell's does.

And for the record I've always really loved both breweries and feel they both deserve the praise they get.

For me, it's in the upper echelon of shelf IPAs nationwide. Really hard to beat good, fresh Two Hearted.

Eh, I think I could have made my comment about any IPA. I just pay attention and buy it fresh, and it's never a problem or inconsistent. There isn't a flaw in the beer, besides for me trying an older one.

I disagree. I still rate Two Hearted among my favorite IPA's. others include; Walkingman IPA, Workhorse ( Laurelwood), O'Ryely ( Widmer). I plan to clone the two Hearted this month. I enjoy it so much I had a twelve pack of Bell's amber transported from Michigan to Ridgefield, WA this fall to collect yeast. The amber is nothing to write about other than its use for the yeast.

Disagree. I've purchased Two Hearted 4 times in the last year and it only "wowed" me on one of the six packs, the other 3 times were certainly underwhelming. I know it isn't age either because they bottle date their bottles and I only buy if it's less than a month old. Could be transportation conditions, but I'm guessing it's batch inconsistencies as well. It's damn near impossible to make every batch EXACTLY the same, there are so many factors involved.

I will say that my draft experience with Two Hearted has been better... It is usually quite good.

Thanks for sharing, everyone was on pins and needles awaiting the final verdict on Bell's from the Hop King himself

Take your trolling over there then

Seriously, nobody will take you seriously when start threads just to say negative things about a brewery. They will value your opinion even less when half the beer comparisons you make aren't even of beers of the same style or profile.

Age. It has nothing to do with consistency. Every one of "us people" knows that hops fade over time. If you drank different batches at the same age, I guarantee you they would taste the same. This is otherwise known as consistency.

Um, pretty sure Heavy Seas is freakin' awesome.

Edit: And Founders fucking rules, broseph.

So the handful of people posting above that have had differing tastes amongst fresh batches are lying?

CMUBrew, when you apply to bells assuming you don't already work there you should copy your last post in the cover letter.

Where does anyone talk about the date of the batches when they're making cases against Two Hearted? If anything, I've seen one person say that they may not have tried it fresh and they're willing to give it another shot.

Really my major thing here is that I have a problem with the constant pitting one brewery against another and the less than admirable arguments that follow. Why can't we all just appreciate that beers from different breweries are different? Sure, this is a website with extensive beer reviews and rankings that come with it, but what do we gain by putting down breweries? Just because you like one better (I like Founders better, too), doesn't mean that the other is bad.
