I did not get the love of that beer. I mean, I enjoyed my glass and all, but it was good. Black Note is life changing.

Given they're both bourbon barrel stouts, I think it's fair to compare. Liquorish notes (ok hit you over the head intense amounts) aside.

Though lets be honest, their no loser when you're drinking either of those beers.

Judging Bells based off of three of their beers would be like trying to give me your opinion on a movie that you've only seen the preview of.

FWIW, Bells is one of the top five breweries in the country IMO. Maybe even "higher", but at least top five. They make so many beers over so many styles, and each one is, at the very least, a good (if not, great or better) example of the style. Not to mention all of their world-class tier beers (Hopslam, Two Hearted, BB9000, Black Note, Expedition, etc...)

This reminds me of when the ugly, loserish guy makes a point of telling you he wouldn't have sex with a very attractive female celebrity.

You must be drunk posting Founders makes 2 really good beers CBS and its little brother KBS these are the only 2 great beers Founders makes granted they make many that arent bad and CBS beats anything Bells makes but Founders hasn't made it for years Blacknote beats KBS (its much sweeter) and Expedition beats Founders RIS Java stout may not be quite as good as FBS but its close on top of all of that Bells seems to send extra of their limited beers to MI and even more at their tap room only to help the local economy Founders on the other hand has expanded to more markets than they can reasonably handle yet still sends their limited stuff everywhere.

I'll take a Hopslam over a PtE anyday.

I'll take Blind Pig over Pliny the Elder, but still don't think PtE is "overrated".

I would suggest that anyone who thinks Bells and Founders are crappy breweries should probably not buy their beers, as there are quite a few other selections available.

I am glad OP let us know what he thinks. I can't speak for everyone, but personally I can't wait to find out his opinions on all the other beers in the world. He seems very knowledgeable about styles and brewing techniques, and appears to be level headed and thoughtful with a great palate.

So now you turn to logic?

Because here...quote="HOP_KING, post: 1167369, member: 715833"]Clearly you love Bells. Sorry but I don't, lay off.[/quote]...you had no concern for it.

You began this thread with polemic yet are offended when people respond polemically (as they should, as "vastly overrated" is a joke).

As many have said before me, this thread is nothing but your own, likely dishonest opinion (you think its "cool" to not like a popular brewery) published for incendiary purposes only. I understand protagonism and antagonism towards breweries (I remain a GLBC homer even though they receive an awesome amount of recognition as it is), and this thread is still petty.

That was a little incoherent. Four Deviant Dale's has done me in!

What I mean to say is that you are not basing this thread on your experience of the beer, but your personal feelings on the breweries involved. You essentially say, everything from Bell's sucks and everything from Founder's rocks. What else are we to connote from "vastly overrated" but "it sucks?"

Really? Does it suck or are you just a fan of Founder's?

P.S. Your name is arrogant. Nobody likes arrogance alone. While many like Stone, nobody likes their arrogance but for their delicious beer. I.E. you better brew some delicious beer.

I agree there are WAY too many Better IPA's out there than Hopslam (&/or) Two Hearted..I used to think they were the Bomb too, once, Not anymore.
    - "Slam" lovers, try more IPA's.. next yr when it comes out you'll think so as well.

This is a good point. In fact let's take it a step further. We should develop some sort of system, maybe an online community where people can drink a beer, review it, give it a score then, next year they are free to do it all over again and see how their tastes have changed over time. Then other people would be able to use that information if they so choose to make decisions about what they may or may not want to try. Then after we get a good number of reviews, there will be some sort of consensus (like it or not) as to what the craft beer community feels or doesn’t feel about a particular brewery or their beers. Also, people would be able to see that their are multiple IPAs/DIPAs out there and they can love one from one brewery at the time of it's special release and feel just as excited about another brewery's special release.

I love all of Bell's beers except Two Hearted, which I would argue is one of the worst IPAs I have ever had.

I'll never understand the infatuation with this beer, which tastes like a combination of pineapple juice and vomit.

Centennial is vastly superior to Two Hearted IMO.
