Am I missing it or do they not put a date on this bomber?I ask because one of my stores always has them and I want to get one that is semi fresh. They have like 10 Molokos there too, which was released late last year. I realize that the Moloko is fine, but that gives me pause to buy the Dreadnaught. Thanks for any assistance.

Unless I missed a recent change, FFF doesn't date their bottles.

    They don't do dates.

dreadnaugt is one of the finest beers I've had when fresh, but just even the tiniest amount of age really changes the beer.

I won't buy FFF's hoppy beers at a store unless I see a black leather clad demon in a Slayer shirt stocking the shelf from a box he just opened. Gotta have some kind of freshness standards.

Agreed. A combo of the price tag and lack of bottle dating means I hardly ever buy Dreadnaught. If there were a way of knowing it's fresh, I'd probably buy a fresh bottle a week. (Assuming my store kept fresh bottles.) And by "fresh", I mean less than 6 wks old.

The best way to know is to ask the store's beer guy when they last ordered Dreadnaught. I always let my customers know when it's fresh.

You take a chance of getting lied to if they know what you are getting at.

Yeah, I just avoid all of that and get it only at the brewpub. That itself doesn't guarantee the bottle is fresh but its going to be less of a gamble than anywhere else.

i'm in the same boat on 'freshness'. i found a liquor store near my place where i needed some conventional stuff for a party and noticed they had a nice craft selection. i saw some FFF stuff (late summer last year) and thought oh nice, new spot. fast forward a couple of weeks ago, the same FFF goods were there. I'm not sure if it's old product. based on the area, my guess is that it doesn't move. i'll have to avoid unfortunately.

Over the past couple years I'd buy Dreadnaught bottles occasionally and it just tasted kind of bland and like a run of the mill DIPA, nothing at all like I'd remembered. After awhile I chalked that up to a palate shift along with wishful thinking. A week ago I tried it on tap and was blown away by the fresh, tangy explosion of hops. It tasted so much better and different than any bottle I'd had in all that time.

So, yeah, freshness seems to make a huge difference, and I'm a believer again.

They shouldn't lie to you. It's in their best interest to move as much product as possible.

So if they tell you they got their current stock of Dreadnaught 3 months ago, is that going to help move the product?

Of course I understand where you're coming from- don't want to lie to customers, want to be known as a reliable shop for fresh stuff, etc. but what about the other end of the question?

Three Floyds is so cutting edge, they don't bottle date.

It makes them all the more awesome in ways only describable by Indiana and Chicago adjacent natives.

Then they shouldn't be buying non ageable items that they can't move, period.
