If I recall, they used to only do four pours, as well. Smaller samples not only provides more people with samples, but also more samples to try for individuals.

I will tell you, at the First Anniversary Party, they had a keg of Fou' Foune as the mystery keg, and was informed to get out of the tour and wait in line. Everyone speculated a Cantillon keg, so naturally, I waited, for what seemed like an eternity. As soon as I got to the doors at the tasting room, the keg had floated, and I got none. This really bothered me, as while I was waiting, there were people walking out with double pours, as in their glasses were topped off.

I certainly appreciate the smaller pours, and more importantly, the pour markings. Also, if you don't like it, walk the 100ft to Stanley's and get a mason jar of brew.

I was reading about HF Collaborations today (after drinking a lot of their beer on Sunday) and I just want to know when we can get Shaun Hill down to Texas to brew a collaboration beer? How do we make this happen?

Yeah, last time I was there... there was like 10 different choices on the menu. They also don't only have the inside bar pouring, but 2 tents as well. Used to be ~4-6 brews inside and that was it.

I'm interested to see how the legislative changes will change the tour. Perhaps free tour and pay for pours? I also heard that guest pours are a no-no at breweries with the new legislation (which would be a shame).

We typically have 10 beers on our menu for sampling these days. We reduced the volume of our pours so that we can afford to give away that many free samples, and also so that we can sample that many beers responsibly. The focus of our tours and tastings is to allow people to sample beer for free because we cannot legally sell it. We think touring our brewery, keeping a 16 oz. souvenir glass, enjoying the Hill Country setting, and sampling about ten beers (many of which are very rare) is a good experience. That's the best we can do, other than to continue to try and make the best beer we can. To paraphrase my partner Ron Extract, this town isn't hurting for other things to do on a Saturday these days.

I only read BA on my iPhone and I have than enough opportunity to read most threads and post voluminous content. No one forces you to read a thread and if you don't have the time to catch up then that's cool as well.. Enjoy the dipstick non regional threads about "whales bro" and never ending Meme's. No harm no foul but just because you don't enjoy them or find value in them doesn't mean many of us don't.

The beer tasting menu for this coming Saturday (04/13/13) on Jester King's website lists something interesting:
    • New Beer Release (To Be Announced)

Hmmm...I wonder what it might be.

It's Viking Metal. We'll be putting out a press release for Viking Metal tomorrow. We've already started to send out a limited number of kegs and casks. The bottle release (~100 cases) should happen in 4 to 6 weeks once label approval is complete.

I must confess... I had Viking Metal at Big Texas Beer Fest this past Saturday and it was wonderful. I disliked the hell out of Gotlandsdricka, the barrel added a wonderful fruitiness. I highly recommend at least giving this one a try, it's delish.

I enjoyed Gotlandsdricka; however, I really liked Viking Metal. I will definitely be seeking this one out.
Still waiting on Speed Metal

100 cases means it'll be a tough grab.

Whiskey Rodeo was ~100 so take that number with a grain of salt. Most sours remain on shelves longer so I suspect 100 cases of Viking to be relative to 200 cases of more palatable styles. READ: Shelf beer for at least a few weeks so I agree with you completely.

I would however buy Buddha and its variants by the case load because it was glorious whereas I will only buy a single Viking unless for trade.

Hill Farmstead might be my favorite brewery in the country but I would rather see Jester King do a colab with Freetail first. Both are pioneers in Texas craft as well as leading the charge for getting the stupid Texas beer laws changed.
Come on guys, let's get this done.
    Please!!!

Would that be a conflict of interest? I can't think of other collaboration beers from Texas breweries, but in all fairness, I'm not trying too hard.

Still going to say Jolly Pumpkin/Jester King would be a solid collaboration.

Freetail does their RealTail collaboration with Real Ale yearly. RT 2012 was drinkin' real nice last time I cracked one (it's a mole beer)

Hops & Grain also did a collab with the Draught House (Grapefruit IPA) and I'm sure there's others.
