Only if you have told hooligans to get off your lawn at least once.

The next time you walk across my lawn, you go around.

Funny, I'm 43 & often the oldest at tastings by a decade or so. I'm not sure there are any older beer lovers in Minnesota & if there are, they don't come out of their houses often.

When I was in my 20s and 30s I was traveling throughout Europe drinking the best that Germany, Belgium, the UK, and the Czech Republic (among others) had to offer, and in their original settings. Now at 42, with a wife, kid, and a job, I find myself on BA encouraging the youth, who seem to spend much of their time on the computer searching for (and drinking, by the 4 oz pour) rare and prohibitively expensive beers, to get out of their rooms and travel to find the beers and the places they love. And somehow we old guys are the ones getting barbs thrown at us....

Don't worry. Next week we'll start the "Where's all the middle aged BA's at?" thread.

Every September I have a party at my house where my entire cellar is open for tasting. If it's there it's available. The twenty somethings don't seem to mind that I'm 60. This is an invite. BM for specifics.

I used to be a grumpy, cranky 20-something who felt and acted 20 years older than I was. Looking back, I had no idea what I was doing.

You mean like living in your parents' basement?

I feel your pain. I'm 48 and I was drinking with some local BA's in their mid-20's and one of them had some beers from 1986 & 1993 to drink. They start talking about how they weren't even old enough to drink when these were bottled. I started telling them I graduated from college in '86' and my daughter was born in '93'. That sure does put thing in perspective.

I've actually done this... and I'm only 29. Give me another 30 years and I'm Oscar Madison's long lost twin brother.

    I'm 49y 3m 12d, not that I'm counting.

I remember getting the first Windows based PC at my company in 1992 and being on the interwebs in early 1994. Remember Netscape? I like how the youngsters think they are the only ones out here.

    I'll be 47 this December
I'm not considering that old, but I am usually the oldest at the tastings I attend, I have really enjoyed this journey into craft beer - I only wish I had started it sooner than I did.

Marriage, children, career, pets, home improvement, in-laws and health issues related to age do have a way of pulling you away from your responsibilities to beer. The freedom of your 20s and 30s can't last forever.

I'm almost 35 so I'm out of the target 18-34 demographic, I suppose no one cares what I think anymore
