Southern Tier Brewing (Lakewood, NY) is adding to the infamous Blackwater Series. The series is home to the likes of Creme Brulee and Choklat.

Plums are a diverse group of species, with somewhere between 19 & 40 varieties depending upon whom you ask. We’re using what we consider to be the best to brew with. The Italian plum has beautiful dark skin & the flesh is perfect for fermentation.

    MOODY & EVOCATIVE

Plum Noir’s mild sweetness is derived not necessarily from the plums, but from the many malts we use. A bit of plum flavor is present as well as earthy, toasted grains, & hints of caramel with mild coffee overtones

Style: Imperial Porter (w/ Italian Plums)
    Availability: 22oz bombers, Draft
    Arrival: Summer, 2013

    8% ABV

Mild sweetness in the Blackwater Series? I'm sure.

Could be good, could be crap. Creme brulee was just awful, but Choklat wasn't bad.

Sounds good to me...definitely worth a try at least. Haven't had Creme Brulee but Choklat was pretty good.

I'd love to see the Blackwater series in 12oz singles. I even like the uber-sweet ones like Creme Brulee if I only have to tackle a few ounces and share the remainder with a couple friends rather than throwing a house party so I don't have to pour the rest or let it go flat in the fridge.

Only thing I've ever had (and heard of for that matter) with plums is Cinco Anos from JP. Having said that, if they want to do a fruity porter i'll try it (they havent made a bad beer yet although I wasnt a fan of Java).

SN's Ovila Quad with plums is phenomenal. The more plum beers the better I say.

I like the Blackwater Series. I think this will be a great addition. If not oh well. It will be worth a try.

Sounds pretty tasty. Choklat is awesome, and Creme Brulee is good (though not really something I'd regularly drink).

I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for this when it gets released.

Sweet! I don't think I ever had a porter brewed with plums. Should be interesting enough to pick up for 8 or 9 bucks.

Hopefully it's as good as the Java stout they got rid of.
