Tiberian Inquisitor - their belgian pale ale, Tiger Jelly, aged for a year in Chardonnay Barrels. Had a some on tap - very interesting, not at all what I was expecting, but good - made me want a few bottles anyway.

My goal was to limit beer purchasing to $25/week. Can that even be done?

    This was my resultant "haul"

I went $9 over, but it was cuz' of the Thomas Hardy ($7 for 8.5 oz bottle). God, it's just so good, and there were only three left, so I hadda grab one - I don't know what's wrong with me lol - anyway, the Yeti was new on the shelves - so that was a given; and figured I'd compare some of my favorite D/IPAs.
    • The aforementioned Thomas Hardy (old) Ale
    • Ruination, from Stone (IPA? DIPA?)
    • (my first) Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti. OMG - can't wait
    • Hercules DIPA, also from Great Divide
    • Double Jack, DIPA from Firestone
All high-quality beer. Drinking the Thomas Hardy while I post this.

I am assuming you meant 'why do I love dragon's milk', not 'why have I been called a troll' here so bear with me if I am wrong. It has been a couple years since I have had it and I do not have tasting notes in front of me so this will be from memory. I remember having this beer last with a dark chocolate cake as a pairing. The light coffee notes and smooth overall beer sweetness of the milk-stout (assuming lactose) were very nice with the dark chocolate cake. This beer might not be a hunaphu or a darkness but it is a very pleasant light milk stout that will always have a place in my repertoire of beers, paired or not. I have a couple of these guys I have been aging though for a couple years. I will have to bring one out and try again. I tend to like not only the double imperials but also the lighter (flavor and ABV) ends of the spectrum of each style. To each their own though! Hopefully this will inspire you to re-approach this beer with an open attitude!

Last night's haul. I apologize in advance for the fridge pic, but work wore me out today & I'll be honest; I'm too lazy to pull them all out to take a shot of the line-up.

Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast Oatmeal Stout
Tröegs Java Head Stout (6 pack, notice there's only 2 left)
