Just got back from a weeklong stint in Chicago for a conference, and wanted to provide a couple notes on my beer experiences there. As a Midwesterner currently living in DC (but hoping to move back soon), I've taken an interest in Chicago's rapidly developing beer scene. Despite staying in the Loop at the massive Hyatt, was able to venture out plenty and hit some quality destinations. Visited both Revolution (brewpub) and Half Acre (taproom). Enjoyed both. Really, really, loved the vibe at Half Acre. It was packed, but a lot of fun. I'd only really had Daisy Cutter before, but I think H.A. has now emerged as my favorite Chicago brewery. Space IPA was awesome. Hot Tropic was intriguing. Bottles and Cans - a seemingly solid bottle shop in North Center. Perhaps though, it seemed more awesome than it really is, simply because they had so many local beers I'd read about, but can't get in DC. Bad Apple - we hunkered down here for a solid 5 hours one night, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nothing earth shattering on the draft list, but solid. El Chupacabra burger = fantastic. Fountainhead - got to stop here on a Tuesday night. Such an inviting space - people were really friendly. Beer and food were great. And, Zombie Dust on draft. Little Goat - ok, more about the food here than beer...but really enjoyed this place. Anyway...no real point to this post, other than to say I enjoyed my week in Chicago. Lots of good things going on. Keep up the good work out there!
