In time for the holidays? Am I late to the boat on this? Didn't see a thread.

I thought one of the brewers confirmed this on FB beer group.

This video is almost as bad as the Nun Bettor Super Bowl one.

    Hopefully it's better this time.

I'm very curious to see how DDG gets released. Wonder if they'll do some sort of ticketed event to help handle the chaos.

And yes, that video is awful. No clue who their target was, but I can't see many craft beer fans watching it and getting excited. This thread seems to reinforce that a bit.

Last year's anniversary was very disappointing, so hopefully this year will be better. They need to both put something exciting on, and then not charge 2-3 tickets for it.

So they basically said DDG is releasing at some point this year and you can drink regular release stuff at their anniversary party.

That totally makes me wanna go to their anniversary party now

Feel free to ask Andy about their "marketing tactics." Building a "brand" he says...

"Oh hey, we have this highly anticipated release here. Should be out in time for the holidays. Our anniversary party is coming up first though and we're pouring plenty of Red Barn!"

They're trolling the entire BA community. That's the only logical conclusion here

That is a seriously dreadful video. Who could that possibly appeal to?

Prediction: Lost Abbey anniversary will be packed with non-BAs who dont care about only rare beers.

And DDG will be a non ticketed 100 case - 1 case limit release of 750s

Man, there are a lot of complainers in here. Yes, the video was awkward, but I am sure they had fun making it. Sounds like there will be plenty of good beer at the party; Red Poppy, FdA, Angel's Share, Deliverance. These are all great beers, sure not rare, but still very good. Not sure how many tickets these will take but I typically find that you can drink these beers cheaper here than buying bottles.

Also, the tease of DDG might have seemed like a snub but I thought it was more of a hint those (us) that would pick up on it. And who knows, buy "the Holidays" they could mean Christmas in July. I was hoping to go this year to the Anniversary party but I will be in MI during that time, so maybe next year.

I went last year and you got 8 tickets. Any beer that was in a barrel was 2 tickets. They also didn't have CDT on, which was disappointing. Overall, it was not a good event, especially compared to the year before that. The 5th anniversary had Ad Lib and Anti-Oxidant, both of which were awesome.

I have not been in a few years 4th and 5th I think, I had a great time at them both. I remember hearing how last years was disappointing, but this is a fairly low cost event (how much are taster tickets?). I think a problem with events like this (and probably the Stone festivals too) is everyone is living in the "good ol' days". Back when "rarer" beer were easier to find and have at events. Now, these breweries cannot keep up with demand for the next instawhales, and thus cannot put them out at events like they use too.

Plus as these events go on we get numbed to the special beers. I remember during the 4th anny party when they had FdA, that was awesome! Similarly when they just released Deliverance. Now all of us nerds have had these great beers dozens of time, so we act like they are not special or good anymore. It isn't the beer that is necessarily changing, but our demands/taste.

I am not saying we need to shut up and pay up, but rather understand that maybe it is us who are changing and not the these beer list. I didn't go to Oakquinox this year though I have gone to every previous one. The list wasn't as awe inducing to me, not because there were not great beer, but because I have been around long enough in the beer scene that I am familiar with most of those beers. At this point in my "beer journey" it is typically better for me to meet up with friends and have a tasting rather than going to ticketed beer events (speaking of which we should get together sometime soon). Hell, I am thinking of skipping out on Million Zillion Speedway this upcoming year. It is sooo packed, plus Alesmith is now releasing a lot of special bottles, the variants they have at the party are not necessarily amazing, just more of a ticker's wet dream. Maybe I should host our own version. Buy a case of Speedway and grab a couple french presses and make our own versions, plus open up some BA/single coffee variants.
