I got the best trustee in the world, my sister. If she doesn't come through, I will just tell Mom.

    confirmed* My porch was crushed.

I don't look at trusteeing or vice versa as an agreement. It should be in good faith and with two people just looking top spread some love

It sucks that people are having bad experiences. My Bruery trustee is awesome. Not only does he do a great job getting me my stuff, but he throws in amazing So Cal bottles as well. I do my best to take care of him, but often I feel that I am slacking. My CS trustee has been a huge help as well. I guess if you aren't happy with your trustee, try and find another. Cheers!

I have a great trustee. He communicates regularly and is more on top of what is happening and when at the Bruery. Realize they are spending time and effort to get you beer that they don't have to. They deserve to be well taken care of in my opinion.

I trustee for three BAs. And all three have been nothing but awesome! All three send me shipping labels, empty styrofoam shippers(or sometimes full of thank you beer), and even packing material. I've never had a bad interaction with any of them. I actually sometimes throw in some extra socal beers if I can fit them in. I guess I've been one of the lucky trustees, able to have three awesome BA friends.

I trustee for 8 folks. Most have been great! I too try to throw in some So Cal love if there are empty slots in the shippers. Anything from some Alpine IPA's to some BA AleSmith offerings. Depends on how they have treated me. Beer Karma is real afterall. To me there has never been an agreement other than the person send shippers and labels. I appreciate all the thank you beers, but I would be uncomfortable asking for anything in return. I just leave it up to each individual.

After paying to send bottle shippers to CA from GA then back once full, I'm exploring other more efficient options.

Do any of you Reserve Society members/ trustees happen to know if the boxes/ packaging used by The Bruery to ship within CA are sturdy enough to slap a fresh FedEx label on and ship to GA? It seems like that could lead to some nice savings in shipping costs.

I really didn't I understand how much cost and effort it can take to be a trustee until I started doing it for Crooked Stave.

I quit the Bruery Cellar Reserve 2 years ago, but I think I need to send my former trustee another box given what I've learned being on the other side of it.

I'm 3 weeks away from shipping out 600+ bottles. Something to look forward to. :grimacing:

Couldnt you just purchase the shippers from say UHaul (over $25 ships free) and have them shipped directly to your trustee.

They're definitely sturdy enough to ship across country - they're nice styro shippers. The trustee would have to strip off all of the "CONTAINS: Alcohol" type stickers that are slapped all over them.

I'm gonna up my game for trustee compensation after reading this. I've been shipping Bruery to her house so she doesn't have to pick it up and has it already packed, but she's been shipping on her dime and I usually send ~1.5x in what I would guess to be her shipping costs back in midwest shelf whales... Like PW, BA Central Waters, FFF etc.

Still it's gotta be a hassle and she's paying shipping herself and only getting that back and a little extra. Seems like paying your own shipping is the norm PLUS ~%15-20 tip!

Soooo...Is this only for Bruery stuff or are there trustees for other breweries? If I could get a RR, FFF or Alchemist trustee I would compensate very nicely LOL.

You do realize there is a difference between a trading partner, and trustee correct?

It is a lot more work than people think. Its not quite as easy as throwing some bottles in a styro and away they go. I like to wrap each bottle with bubble wrap first. Also like to add some additional padding in the bottom of each slot. Taping them up, lugging them to Fed Ex. And I have a group of folks who use UPS and another group who use Fed Ex so two trips for me.

I don't mind doing it, but it can be a bit much at times when things get crazy at work so it's nice to feel appreciated.

I have an opposite problem with the people I trustee for being too generous sometimes and I feel like I should do more, hence throwing in some nice extras to fill out empty slots.

Maybe not....Figured you bought the beer and paid shipping with the trustee and showered them with gifts for their time and kindness where as a trader you just sent them agreed upon beer and they reciprocated...
