he also mentioned limited space in the Gypsum mine (where they age their BA beers in climate controlled conditions) as a factor limiting their BA production volume in general....and yes, the limited number of syrup barrels limits the number of beers they can make with it and CBS was being put aside for a while.

there was also (joking) talk about BA Shock Top being the basis for this summers fruity offering, but that was just for our table's ears

you just made me puke in my mouth. Founders needs to stick to what they do best, barrel aged. No more fruity beers please unless it's blushing monk.

So you mean CBS is getting better with age right? Cause that weird artificial sugar mess in CBS needed to go the fuck away. I've never had a beer that so many people were disappointed by than that one.

I still have my original 2 bottles of CBS from the release party. Had 2 glasses of it on tap at the brewery and wasn't SUPER impressed. I mean it was good but had a lot of residual sugary-maple flavor that definitely needed to ferment out more.

The sugary maple flavor is what made the beer amazing

Sounds a lot like Avery Brewing with that statement.

It's easy, if you want more MSBA beers than buy Blis syrup. It's way expensive but they exclusively provide Founders with their maple syrup bourbon barrels.

Now THAT is adding information to the discussion. The syrup sounds pretty good, I just might buy some.

Martha's Vineyard in GR is the cheapest I've seen. I think $12 to $14 for maybe 500ml? I've seen it as high as $25 at other locations.

Bourbon barrel imperial stout. I don't need the maple barrels or anything super crazy. This would be amazing in a 750.

All this speculation reads like a tabloid...not interested.

Now, as far as Doom is concerned. Any sightings in VA? Quite so far at my local.

Just plan on something that doesn't require barrels and good to release in the summer. Some Blushing Monk-like beer (or variant) is probably the best bet.

if its expensive for founders to barrel age, get a damn kick starter going and lets get them some more barrels and conditioned space

wouldnt necessarily agree. i forget where, but I saw that they were due to release 4 backstage series beers this year. If they already make these plans, im sure that they could have barrel aged things lined up in place already

Black Biscuit would be nice. But I'd rather have Cashew Mountain Brown or another run of CBS. These backstage releases are to bring back the best of Founders. All 3 of those were classics. Isn't CBS food enough to grace their lineup on at least an every other year basis? I understand cashew mountain as it takes an abundance of cashews and the money to make it, but is CBS in that same boat? I wouldn't think so.

With Founders focusing on expansion and increased production of mainstays, I'd put my money on something relatively basic like Doom. A short barrel aged or modified version of a staple. Seemed to be a lot less FIS around this year, maybe a barrel aged version? In summer would go against the grain although August is later. Could also see them doing a BA Cerise.
