    Good morning fearless Founders followers,

Mid-MI is bright, chilly and sunny with a bit of a breeze. Hopefully this will hasten the drying process from the later part of last week's downpours. The basement got a little damp, but that just makes some of my beers age better

My friend and I attended the 12th annual Founders Black Party yesterday. We arrived at 10:50am and got in at 11:30am. Met a lot of cool people, and consumed some very rare beers. One of which was a two year aged KBS at a mere 15.2% abv. It said 'Devil's Cut' on the tap handle, but it was called something else on the menu. I'm still a little groggy from the event, so please excuse my lack of enthusiasm and details. HopCat was had. Jamal and Ernie are the best! Grand Rapids Brewing Co. was visited for the first time. Their Hefe was solid, as was their Fish Ladder IPA.

God bless all my Boston peeps and everyone who was affected by the tragedy last Monday. As for new beer/s today, I hope they're all very good to exceptional, as are their reviews and commentary. Post it all back on this thread AFTER you've tried them. Thanks for your loyal support and keeping NBS fresh, fun and informative.

Anyone who wants to 'like' us: facebook.com/beergrin and follow on us on twitter: @beergrin I'll be posting some pics from the Black Party a bit later, after a much needed nap. Good day and good drinkin'!

In the undying spirit of craft beer,

    ***New Brown...Double Brown Ale Sunday!!!

G'day Malty and to the rest of the NBS crew! This weekly thread has some REAL loyalty and I tip my hat to the regulars; you know who you are.

I posted a pic of a new brew to me in the WAYDN thread, and here it is again:

    Plus the review:

I have 2 other newly bottled brews from Lander Brewing but since the above is the "lightweight" at 9.2% abv, I might have to save them for another day.. or not.

Deschutes The Abyss. If you have never had it, try and trade for it or buy it. Amazing beer. Thank you Bitterbill!

These guys know their stuff, eh?

I like when the new beer I'm reviewing is a classic that I just haven't gotten around to - y'know? Like after 3 solid years of exploring the craft industry (check my wallet or waistline for proof), this beer has just been there the whole time, but I never tried it yet. That's awesome.
Next week (tentatively): Vitus. I have no doubt it will be amazing.

No pour pics or such - I had to watch what I was doing. Dumped the sediment in with a little after-swirl. Fantastic color - true brown and hazy. As I say in my review, so I say to you: It's a must-try for BAs. 3.99(?) by me.

Super day here on LI - mostly sunny, pleasantly cool, with the pink, yellow and white colors of early spring.

    Peace, all!

You will in no way, shape, or form be disappointed in Vitus. The beer is just flat out delicious.

New American Dark Saison Sunday (week 426)

Greetings NBS'ers, a beautiful day here on the ridge in Mid Hud Val NY. Lotta chores to do, finishing the pile for the bagster set to deploy next weekend, prepping the house for the major overhaul I am about to undertake, and generally keeping busy as these old bones allow. Drinking a complex and darkly delicious beer from one of Oregon's premier brewers, Block15, and loving it a lot. Hope you also have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

Greetings fellow NBSers! A gray, rainy day here in the Fourth Corner, but the forecast calls for a clear and sunny week ahead. I spent the last few days doing some demolition work at one of my local breweries, as they're getting ready to add a bunch of new triple batch fermenters, so I'm a bit sore today, but whatever it takes for more beer!

I'm at one of my locals watching NASCAR, and the Mariners will be on soon to lose another game, so I think my day is layed out for me. The pub I'm at serves as the home pub for the local soccer team, and they work with several local/regional breweries to make beers available only at the games, and here at The Copper Hog. This is a Brown ale from one of our newer breweries: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30589/92629

    NEW AMERICAN IPA'int SUNDAY

Proud new pop enjoying some time on the grill with my brother in law on a beautifully crisp spring day in Lancaster county. We're having an odd IPA that isn't quite, um, well I'm not sure what to make of it.

Precious little sleep and not much beer these last two and half weeks but I'm loving life in general today and my new son in particular.

    Cheers and happy NBS all!

Yaaay, I finally get to play the NBS game!

Snowy/rainy/cold morning here in Wyo, but I was still up early at breakfast with my best girl friend and then had to go out to the ranch and chase some cows around. All of the heifers have finally calved and are turned out with the rest of the mamma cows. It was cold and wet and muddy.

Back in my empty apartment, missing my guy who is gone for the week. Let's just say that I'll be spending some serious couch time with our cat, Brewski. So I decided it was a good opportunity to try a new beer, one that was generously sent to me by GennyCreamAle. Alchemy Hour Double IPA by Great Lakes Brewing Co!!!

(I'm thinking that it might need to be a house rule that our cat appear in all of my beer photos from now on. They turn out fuzzy because I'm focused on getting Brewski to hold still, but everyone knows what these beers look like anyways, and he's so floofy and cute.)

Anyways...I REALLY like this beer! Double and Imperial IPAs are probably my favorite style, but I'm fairly picky about them. For as high ABV as it is, it's surprisingly crisp and smooth. Super citrusy and fruity without being the generic grapefruit profile. Tangerines and peaches, perhaps? Resinous bitterness left on the back of the tongue and definitely feeling some of that 9.4% warmth only half way through the beer. Great caramel malt flavor, also. Almost like the malt of an amber. It supports the hops well without being too sweet or sticky like some of the messier DIPA/IIPAs.

    Happy Sunday

    Happy NBS to all...

As Greywulfken already said, it's a really nice crisp spring day here on Long Island.

I ran a few errands and did a little yard work before the weeds take over my entire property. I'll be grilling up some chicken and ribs in a while so I'm having a pre-grill beer and what a very fine beer this one is...

Well, the rain has stopped, and it's almost, sorta, kinda, thinking about, maybe, being semi-sunny out. I seem to be on a bit of a streak here, this new brew for me, is also new to BA, that makes me 3-for 3 today: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1396/92654

Not a barleywine in the least bit, as advertised, but delicious none the less. If you see it, give it a shot

It's hot in SE New Mexico-Weather Channel says 80 but it feels like at least 90. I just finished a 750 of Choc Biere de Garde, a very pleasant beer . When paired with this heat and some yardwork it brings on a nap-like state of mind. Next up is Monk's Cafe Sour Brown Ale, very nice for drinking under the shade tree on a hot day.

This one I've actually been holding off on for today:

Looking at the NFL - player movement, the schedule, draft interests - seems like my three favorite teams, the Jets (yeah, yeah, laugh all you want), Giants, and Steelers will all suck next year, so any haters out there have that to look forward to  lol
    [IMG]
Listening to the new Soilwork album - a relatively mature-sounding work from one of Sweden's great melodic death metal bands (don't be afraid )...

Still beautiful outside here on LI. A bit cooler and drier than it was last week. Partly cloudy skies and warming sunshine. Nice day to be outdoors.
Or indoors, if you've got a Yeti...
I've had the regular (Yeti), Belgian, and Espresso Oak versions so far. All stellar beers.
I knew I'd really dig this, too.

Great Divide's Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti.

Really great drinking experience from a really great brewery.

    Cheers!
