Welcome aboard the good ship NBS! Can you take a minute to link your review, or if you don't review, at least tell us what you thought about this beer. Why didn't you think it was a Barleywine for example? Cheers!

New American Wild Ale (Made in MI)

Awesome weekend in West MI. While dodging floods along the Grand River we were able to see lots of family and friends and share some great home brew.

Blue skies and temps in the low 40s made for a decent run this afternoon. Chores done, time to settle in to a tasty brew from Brewery Vivant.

New American Pale Wheat Ale Sunday

Greetings NBS, from Southern, CT where the sun is high in the sky and the weather appears to finally be breaking. Although even for a spring day, it certainly feels more like late March than late April. We'll take it.

Spent most of the day out in the yard and around the house. My wife and I were away last weekend, so it was catch up time. After dinner with the family, I am sampling one of my wife's favorite beers. While I appear to like it more than the BA community, I think she is on to something:

Congrats to DIM, and cheers to you, your son, and your growing family.

Unsettled here in Eastern Washington, sun, clouds, wind, rain then sun again. I'm not letting the weather slow down the grilling however. I'm after a grilled chuck roast this afternoon.

Here's to a much quieter week ahead for our "STRONG" friends in Boston.

    Happy Trails!

What a great thread. Never seen this here. I spent roughly 7 hours in the car with my father on this cloudy, dreary, semi- dry day in Minnesota. St Paul to Grand Rapids (MN) to St. Paul can make a man thirsty. So, I wanted to treat myself for making it back from the still frozen tundra; no better time for a Founders KBS (2013) I thought and was totally right. This year's vintage is phenomenal and I cannot wait to crack my other open, even though, I am not yet through this one.

Finally a gorgeous, if somewhat chilly, Spring day here in Chicago. After the mess from all if the flooding that happened here the last few days, we certainly needed it. I thought that I'd give this lager a try, although I'm not really a lager kind of girl. But you know, if I have to have one, Great Lakes is the way to go.

    New Helles Bock Sunday

    Greetings NBSer's,
Our unbelievably bad spring continues. Attended a outdoor breweriana event today at the country's second oldest single family owned brewery and it was cold, which also seemed to hurt attendance significantly. Nonetheless the event was fun to spend time with folks associated or employed with the brewery.
My beer today is about another midwest regional brewery of some significance and their seasonal bock. I think this seems pretty low rated for a beer of good quality. I think drinkability seems to lower scores a lot. The older I get the more important that becomes for me.

Congrats to Dim, I wish the best to those in Boston (and China) and a good week to you all.

Got to try this new beer that I won't be re-visiting.

Switchback Russian Imperial Stout (Alta Series) - Two Beers Brewing Co.

Before I begin my review, I just want to note that I want to support local breweries and brews... I really really do, but... this beer is just not good... I highly doubt this is how the brewers originally intended this beer to taste like.

A: Black/Dark brown with some reddish tint. 1 finger mocha head.

S: Smells like cherry. Some sour note... not much stout-like notes. alcohol, hops, and sourness.

T: The bottle says that it was aged in brandy barrel for 6 months... I don't pick up any of that. Instead what I get is sour cherries. Some chocolate, some hops... no vanilla, no brandy barrel character... I just taste sour cherries, some chocolate, some hops, and some roasty malts. Sour finish. Not pleasant. I love sours but this isn't pleasing. Maybe it's infected?

M: medium thinness, alcohol burn, and some puckering from the sourness.

O: I will be switching back to my other local favorites... this is my 3rd beer from Two Beers and they were all mediocre at best.

    New Swedish Fish Sunday

My second ever experience with Omnipollo (which apparently exhausts their list of truly exciting brews).
Nifty little thread, I hadn't seen it before, but am digging it. An eventful day: one of our ducks got eated at about 5am (damn raccoons!), so spent the morning/early afternoon reinforcing the duck pen. Then something strange happened: the sky disappeared and in its place was this blue thing with a hot, bright orb in the center. Not sure what that was about. Hosted a... thing. for a friend who needs the support right now, then went and had a really good rehearsal; flushed a lot of stuff out and kind of made up for the frustrations of friday night.
    Cheers, all!!

Gotta say it: I love Omnipollo's artwork. Of course, this does not hold any bearing on these ratings, and would mean nothing if the beer in the bottle wasn't tasty, but luckily in this case, it's cool label on great beer.

Hazy. To say the least. Almost like a fresh homemade cider (before fermentation). Orangish amber. Pillowy white head with just enough retention and lacing to pique that part of me that cares about such things. Really an appetizing appearance.

The nose is kind of weak, a little disappointing. Sweet, with some floral hoppiness, a bit of grapefruit citrus.

Really nicely balanced. That grapefruit is there, with some dry pine resin on the back end. there's a touch of honey sweet malt, but it disappears almost as quick as it appears. kind of a dry finish.

Man, this is the second Omnipollo brew I've tried, and the second I've really enjoyed. Sweden keeps on winning...
