I have the option to purchase Doom at $19.99/bottle and Double Trouble at $14.99/4. Given the msrp on Doom is much lower, is it worth the $19.99?

I would get the doom solely because I never had it before. I'm sure I would immediately regret paying more for less beer, but a tick is a tick.

I'll take the Dbl Trouble over Doom any day. This is also because I have no interest in bourbon barrel aged IPAs...ever

Assuming you don't have the third option - find a store that doesn't price gouge - take the Double Trouble. Just opened a bottle of Doom last night and it isn't worth $20. I'm going to let my other bottle sit for a couple months to see if it gets better, but I am not impressed thus far.

Doom doesn't interest me and I haven't seen it where I live yet. One of our bottle shops sells most Founders 4 packs for $9.19. I'm not sure either of your options is "worth it."

One Stop Brew Shop? I bit that bullet yesterday, came to like thirty six and some change. The double trouble is very good! No plans for Doom yet... Shit was too expensive for me to crack open on say... a Tuesday. Was an impulse buy and I'm having a hard time justifying the cost.

Doom is amazing. You shouldn't be paying 20 for it but it is worth it.

$9.19 is quite the deal. I think that's not what most people find. That said, $14.99 is still a little above average. I'd go to a store where you can buy singles of Double Trouble and get one of those. Then, instead of Doom, buy $20 in other beer. That price is a bit too steep IMO.

Yes. Usually I am right there for a release but this one I am actually thinking of the cost/benefit. I had no idea what others were seeing as a non-brewery price for these. Sounds like I will skip the Doom.

Anything over $15 for Doom sounds ridiculous, and over what I'll pay for it. $15/4 pack of DT sounds high also. Shouldn't it be around $12/$13?

Their prices can be a bit high, but I take into consideration the convenience, One Stop is on my way home from work. It's a newer store and sometimes they do charge more but the owner is a great guy. I'll tell you what, if you're interested, message me and perhaps we can split my bottle. Cheers.

Ouch! It hasn't hit Chicago yet, so not sure what it will be yet. $13 at the brewery so hoping no more than $15 at stores that don't try and screw you at least.

Double Trouble is $9.99/4pk at TW in Newport News, VA. Although I think it's good, there is no way I'd spend $15 for it. I wouldn't doubt that Doom will retail for that much, but my store will likely be a 1 bottle limit or some crap like that.

To try it once, yes it is worth $20.

I think that's part of the problem with the craft community right now. We are willing to pay any price just to try a new beer or barrel aged beer, and that tells the brewereries "we can charge what ever the hell we want, because these idiots keep paying more and more!". I am guilty of this like most of you, but it's getting to the point when I am passing more and more on these high priced new beers. Plenty of beers in the sea, or something like that.

Edit: add- distributors and stores with brewereries.

    Is Founders MSRP $20?

I think it is telling the shops we'll pay whatever they charge.

My statement wasn't just for beers in general, it just so happens that Founders has my heart. I've passed by plenty of new beers that were overpriced.

No. It was $13 at the brewery and I believe that is the MSRP, or if not it shouldn't be more than a couple dollars more.

Edit: and I am not singling you out Hanzo, just saying this is more of a beer community trend/problem I see.
