In my unbiased opinion, Texas has no business being anywhere near the top 10.

Seeing as the list is based on number, you're wrong.

If you want to argue quality, you're still wrong.

I agree. We don't have a lot of shit breweries and brew pubs, most of what we have is very solid.

This list plainly shows why the West Coast Region needed to be split up.

And other than ABW, JK, Karbach, and mayyyyybe SA/DE, no other breweries in this state are even worth mentioning when comparing them nationally. States like Maine, North Carolina, Minnesota and even Vermont are light years better than Texas.

Just cause we have breweries like Pedernales, Texas Big Beer, and South Austin Brewing doesn't mean we are one of the nations top 10 brew-states (in terms of quality)

Quality over Quantity IMO, how can you not mention states that hold great breweries such as Indiana (3floyds) or Ohio (Great Lakes, Hoppin Frog, and Jackie O's)

Well, if you read the quoted article, the rankings are based solely on total number of craft breweries. It has nothing to do with quality, thus making it meaningless

Oh? Live Oak? (512)? Freetail? Easy to forget breweries when there are so many.

And having a single great brewery in a state doesn't mean anything either. You should compare an entire body of breweries.

While I certainly agree that the breweries you listed here are not good, at all, the vast majority of breweries in Texas make quality beer. Maybe not world class, but 50 good breweries beat 1 great one if you're comparing on a state-vs-state level. Otherwise, you're not actually comparing states, just breweries.

While I see greenspoint's point, I don't know if I agree. Every state has bad breweries, still I don't know if I would put Texas in the "top 10," but see how it is not cut and dry. I know Illinois should not be on there, if this is suppose to be just a state breweries thing (though typical USA Today, they don't specify anything). Chicago has some very good to excellent breweries, though the rest of the state sucks monkey balls. If we are talking distribution throughout different states, then Illinois is in the discussion, but that is it.

Anyway, I don't know if I really have a point, just that Texas is very under rated in the US beer world, arguably "top 10." though "arguably" is as good as it gets right now.

Agreed, there are some very good breweries in NM, most are very under rated.
