"Ruined" by Surly Darkness

    So far, I have yet to find another RIS (especially a non-BA one) that comes even close to matching the deliciousness that is Darkness. Am I ruined, or is there something out there (ideally, a little more easily get-able) that's just as good? I'd even settle for a close second. :wink:

    Did you have 2012? It was insanely good, and I'm not being a homer because it was far better than 2009-2011.

    My favorite non-BA stouts other than Darkness are Founders Imperial Stout and Dark Horse Plead the 5th.

    I look forward to one day sampling some Surly RIS goodness. In the last few years, got my hands on
    a bottle of FFF Dark Lord.

    Founders Imperial Stout, Blackout Stout and Abyss. All easier to get that Darkness, unless you live in Minn.

    North Coast Old Rasputin is my favorite readily available stout. Looks like you can also get Green Flash Double Stout, Ballast Point Victory at Sea, Oskar Blues Ten Fiddy, Schlafly BA Imperial Stout, Victory Storm King, Boulevard Dark Truth, Stone Russian Imperial Stout...That should be a good start, though it looks like you can get plenty of others in DC.

    Boulevard Dark Truth is great in 12 oz bottles also loved Fulton Worthy Adversary (MN only again)

    All of those are easier to get (except maybe Abyss) than Darkness in MN as well. :slight_smile:
    Amazing beer, a little expensive but this years was great.

    There are plenty as good or better, you can't be ruined by surly darkness. But at least you know you found a favorite, it's cool to have.

    Marshall Zhukov was pretty good, so was The Lost Abbey's Serpent stout!!

    Plenty with a flavor profile similar to Surly Darkness? Which beers are you referring to? She is asking for recommendations.
