So I was lucky enough to end up with a vintage Ivan the terrible a year or two back. But I'm slightly confused. BA lists the 2008 as 9.25% bottle count of 1152. However, my bottle says 8.75% on the label.... It is handwritten on the back label as 969/1152.

Does BA just have the abv wrong?

With that said, does this help out me anywhere close to a Vanilla bourbon dark lord? I don't mind putting in some other solid stuff if it is needed, but figured it might be a solid start?

    Thoughts?

The abv may change with the different years it was brewed. And I'm sorry to say that even if you had five of those it would still probably not pull in a BA DL. You would have to add quite a bit. A friend just traded his for a Cable Car, peche n Brett, and Cantillion Kriek. If you've been pursuing the trade forums lately you can attest to how hard it is to trade for CC by itself let alone adding in those other solid beers for the vanilla.

Well on the ivan listing it says the 2008 is 9.25%.

And yeah, not saying just the ivan for the vanilla BA. Was hoping it would be a start. Maybe a combo of ivan, CW 15, etc...

Truthfully, you would probably have to have about 8 beers of CW15 calibur to even get a bite on a BA DL. People hang onto this stuff like its gold. Take a look at the trade forums right now and I can guarantee that most of the offers arent getting done. As far as the Ivan is concerned, I doubt there would be much interest in the beer, probably less than the CW15, despite its age and low bottle count. With that said... there is really only one way to find out. Post an ISO!

2008 Ivan was delicious. Drink it and be happy.

If it is anythying close to the '10 I drank recently I think it will be better than most BA DL's you can get anyways (less stress and cost).

    Crack, sip, and enjoy!
