I usually get the old fashioned, "can I help you find something?" question when they notice I've been in there scrounging through every nook and cranny in their store, hoping to find something someone else missed.

"Oh whatup brah! Thanks for the Pliny last week. Let me go to the back and grab that 4 pack of Blacknote ive been saving for someone like yourself."
    Me.....
"Holy shit! Thanks for the Blacknote hookup! Here is a bottle of Zombie Dust".

They don't say anything about us. We (BeerAdvocate.com users) are not that important.

Said to me by a Total Wine manager when she opened the door first thing in the morning.

"Wow your that guy that camped out overnight?"

This was when Westy 12 came state side.

My beer guy used to introduce me as "the beer guy I've told you about" to other employees and to the owner. That always feels pretty good!

Recently I was laughed at on the phone because I asked for Kentucky Breakfast Stout, she corrected me & told me that it was Kentucky Bourbon Stout. She was a rude wanna be elitist about it. She also assured me that she could get it any time, unlike other stores. This was Cosentino's Market in downtown KC by the way. They put everything on the shelves & can't answer any beer questions.

Things I have said about customers and/or complaints about customers (in general, mostly non-craft beers customers, I can't really recall having a problem with a craft beer customers):

People who complain about prices (our prices don't cost them anything, don't buy it)

People who tell me that some other store has a product cheaper than us (then why aren't you there, I and most liquor store employees make minimum wage and have no say in the prices)

People that want something for free when they buy something (example, had a few guys buy a keg of bud or bud light, and ask for free bags of ice, first off all we make around $7 profit on a $105 keg sale, so they want $16 worth of free ice, I said no., why do people do this, do they go to Walmart and when they buy a bag of chips, do they ask for free dip?

People that want warm beer (mostly BMC customers) and we only have it cold and they won't buy it (this one kills me btw:slight_smile:)

That is all for now, I mostly like my beer jobs, but once in a while...

That's a great way of looking at it, and I'm sure most, or at the very least some, would agree with that view. But of course, not everybody is like that. I work at a restaurant, and servers sometimes talk about some customers. The thing is, it's not the customers that are generally sensible, sometimes on very busy nights some customers decide to continue to be very persnickety about orders and such and can really step on a lot of nerves. I can understand that the job has a high level of stress, and sometimes it's better to let out steam behind closed doors or after hours than it would be to the customer's face. Generally, I imagine the kind of store employee that would talk about holding bottles up to the light and asking detailed questions about specific beers and release dates and such, and not to mention the prices of some of said beers, would probably be the employee that doesn't "get it" and possibly never will. The thing is, sometimes customers - while appreciated - can seem demanding and at times a bit odd to employees who sometimes might not even be having a good day. Of course, I appreciate professionalism, even if it's just the decency to wait until the customer is gone - I've had some that didn't give me THAT level of service.

I work at a liquor store. I never have problems with the craft people. Actually I enjoy when the few craft people come in cause I just bullshit about beer with them for 30 minutes. Its the people that ask for nonexistant items, complain about prices, tell me how to do my job, can't count properly and break shit that piss me off.
