I have only had their Nugget Nectar but besides that and sometimes the Perpetual IPA, I don't really hear too much about them. I was just wondering how people feel about them.

A local bar had a Troegs pint night that I missed tonight, but I plan on going tomorrow if they still got some Impending Descent. Also, I read about their Flying Mouflan, which is coming out now and it sounds amazing, since I love Bigfoot, which is another hoppy BW and marks my entry into cellaring with 5 bottles. I have never heard it talked about on here before though. Well, top on my list to try are Perpetual, HopBack, and Mad Elf (gonna have to wait a bit). I hope to get two bottles of FM, one fresh and one to age, since I think that I will like it.

FM is awesome but I read no bottles this year. Lot of good beers but not that many amazing ones(core lineup).

    Enjoy

They don't make much I don't like. Then again, I live about five minutes from the brewery and am somewhat biased.

Troegenator is a world-class doppelbock, perpetual ipa is very solid, hopback goes great with food, nugget is awesome, mouflan is one of my favorite barleywines, and their scratch beer series is usually pretty interesting. Mad elf is a love or hate type of thing.

I haven't had any of the Scratch series, or other local offerings, but so far Sunshine Pils is my favorite beer they make- top notch, and I'd gladly take it over Prima or Pikeland.

We overlook them because we live so close. But then you try something and can't help but think "why don't I pick this up more often"

We are drinking the shit out of perpetual right now.

Prima is solid indeed, but sunshine is up there.

"Due to the commissioning of our new packaging line, Flying Mouflan will not be available in bottles this year. Expect Flying Mouflan to start popping up in drinking establishments and retailers throughout our eight-state distribution footprint in the coming weeks"

I just read the title Flying Mouflan released. Well, I just called a bottle shop nearby and they said that they have a case and a half. Maybe it is vintage, but he sounded as if he had just gotten them in. I plan on going this weekend, so we will see.

Its probably last years release. Should be drinking well now. Had some this winter and it was great. About $6 a bottle.

    Enjoy

I also like Sunshine Pils and really a lot of what they make. I also buy a 6er of Mad Elf every year. The new brewery is a cool place to visit too

I don't think they make anything otherwordly (for all the hype surrounding Nugget Nectar, it's 'just' an excellent beer) but all of their core offerings, or at least those that make it into MA, are good to very good. Unfortunately I often overlook them because it's a "shelf turd," but because of this thread I'm going to pick some up next time I'm at the store

Just because only East Coast people are talking about it, doesn't mean it needs to be relegated to the Mid-Atlantic. I mean my Terrapin thread wasn't put into a regional area.

I haven't had any of the scratch series beers, but since the brewery is only a little more than an hour away a trip is definitely in the works in the near future! The Hopback is the only beer I have had that I wasn't "wowed" by. The Javahead, Dreamweaver, Mad Elf and of course Nugget Nectar are all pretty damn good beers, imo.

A solid brewery that makes some really excellent beers. I'm not a huge fan of Mad Elf, but there's nothing else in their lineup that I don't enjoy. Personally, I feel they've brought some of the west coast hopfilia right here to PA and I love it. Just had my first Sunshine Pils of the season tonight. I rank it behind only Prima among US pilsners.

As in beer that is always on the shelf of every store

Hmm, I always thought shelf turds were beers that were out of date on the shelves, but those also tend to be, "beer that is always on the shelf of every beer store."

Surprised it took so long for a Mad Elf reference to be made.

Troegs year round beers and seasonals are great. But since people only get excited for limited releases that are hoppy that is the only chatter they get.
