I went to a bar this evening with some solid craft beers on tap. The bartender struck up a conversation and I found out that he is "so over craft beer," and has gone back to macro brews as his primary beer beverage after six years of drinking craft. Anyone here ever feel as though you are over craft beer? I find it rather strange to go back to something so one-dimensional after experiencing the complexities that the craft scene has to offer.

sounds like he's just being contrary . Now that so many others are drinking craft it no longer cool to him. Is he by chance a hipster?

I would have asked what he considered "craft" beer.
I could see going back to blue or bud for lawn mower beers but not for all the time consumption.

I can understand if you are sick of craft beer but going back to macros is so not believable.

I don't know if I would ever revert to macros, but I have had 2-3 week stretches where all I want are pilsners. I get burnt out on hops, on high gravity, big flavor, you know all the stuff we generally love about craft beer. All I'll want is something crisp, cold, and refreshing (I sound just like a Coors Lite commercial, huh?).So I can definitely empathize.

Did you slap him for me?'

As far as the whole "reverting" thing goes, I had never had a macro stage myself so I have nothing to revert back to. Well, water... :grimacing:

    No.

But I am sick of the newer trends in craft beer in recent years where I'll go to any number of craft beer bars with good reputations (even when traveling) and find that 9/10 of the taps are beers I don't want. That NEVER happened in the 90's and early 00's.

I'm sick of craft beer. I'm also sick of good food, good music, and good sex. Just give me whatever is cheapest.

I definitely get that. That's happened to me a handful of times. It's hard to continue finding brews that are distinct in style and flavor. But that's also the beauty of craft brewing, because when you when find something unique, it leaves an impression.

Hipsters drink solely PBR here. Hipsters hate everything that is popular, except for what hipsters find popular, which of course intrinsically isn't popular.

    Wait What?

    Just drink and be happy.
