Their Melonhead is easily the front runner for worst beer of 2013. I picked up a single today because there was no way I was paying 9.25 for a six pack just for the slight chance that it wouldnt be "that bad." Well guess what? It is that bad. I dont know what else to say. The head disappeared right after I poured it which isnt a good sign and it doesnt even really taste like beer. I'd say its even worse than Pumpkinhead and Applehead if thats even possible. Hops ? What hops ? This "beer" tasted like seltzer water. I think you owe it to yourself just to try it to see how bad it is.

I think I'll pass. I still haven't tried Applehead and only had Pumpkinhead once. I heard on the radio they're releasing a mint chocolate stout soon though. I'm actually interested in trying this as I've never had a mint chocolate stout. I'm hoping it will be in the Pugsly's Signature Series since some of those beers are actually decent.

Definitely buying a single if I can find one, mainly because I like punishing myself

It will be fun just so you can tell people about the worst beer you ever ever had.

It does...but I didn't want to kill my lawn...and it was just the drain of the restaurant I happened to be working at at the time...

...when compiling vendor orders after service goes horribly wrong.....

I smell a potential ad campaign featuring the incomparable Gallagher.

Dave Chappelle's 'Black Gallagher' would be even better..."Y'ALL READY TO SMASH SOME FRUIT?!?!?!!!"

The "shipyard sunk" for me with Applehead. An embarrassment.

Applehead wasn't terrible for what it is...I wasn't expecting to be blown away. On a summer day I would drink it, I just wouldn't buy it in the store. Pumpkinhead is terrible though.

I go to Maine every year and I usually pick up some Shipyard while I'm there...maybe that has something to do with me not hating the brewery like others but I'd say their beer is just okay.

I've never had anything by Shipyard, I always seem to talk myself out of buying anything by them every time.

Good old Shityard. Magichats HiCu is currently taking the cake as the worst beer of 2013 for me. Like drinking a thinner version of my girlfriends hand lotion.

Are shipyard the folks who make the Kennebunkport Brewing Co beers for Trader Joe's? I keep seeing them and thinking "you know I was kind of mean to someone last week. TJ beers are usually a bit worse than what breweries put out under their own name. This could be good penance."

Their Chamberlain Pale Ale is pretty good, but pretty much the rest of their stuff just isn't my thing, and some of it (I'm looking at you, Pumpkinhead) is just plain terrible. I can appreciate the fact that they probably function as a gateway beer for some, and the fact that they paved the way for so many great breweries here in Maine, so I can't hate on them altogether, but they just don't appeal to me.

I tried a bunch of Shipyard offerings early on and they all tasted bad to me. I'm guessing its the Ringwood yeast. There are just way too many enjoyable brews out there for me to revisit anything Shipyard.
