I'll be visiting New York, NY, Baltimore, Boston and Pittsburgh in June. Is there anything out there in those cities that I would want to look for coming from northern California; certain breweries, stand by's, calssics, rares?

    thank you!

How will you be traveling from city to city? Train, car, plane? I ask b/c some good stuff may not be in the city, it might be just outside.

In NYC, seek out Captain Lawrence (especially their Rosse e Marrone sour ale, which is still available in some bottle shops.) Also Founders (Doom is still lying around some places), Maine, Sixpoint, Troeg's, Ithaca (Flower Power!), and Brooklyn Brewery.

Take the Metro North from Grand Central in NYC to Peekskill. Walk 100 feet to Peekskill Brewing. You're welcome.

In Baltimore, prioritize Brewer's Art, Union Craft Brewing, and Max's at Fells Point. Also, get some steamed crabs.

On a similar note: is a stop in Philly not feasible?

the reviews look amazing. I'm doing a baseball trip from the 4 cities in about a week's time or less so I may not have time to visit these breweries but rather get bottles to go/bring back home.

So far Two Hearted, Nugget Nectar (maybe), Flower Power, Edmund Fitzgerald are musts.

How available are founder's up there. Breakfast stout, porter, etc. ??

If you are in Pitt you need to go to Fat Heads and get some Head Hunter!

oh shoot, didn't even realize that.

How is it that Sierra, Firestone, Lagunitas, Stone, Anchor all make their way out east but Founders, Troegs, Bells and co. don't come out here?!

    weak sauce.

I think Bells will shortly. Are you driving? If so make sure your trunk has enough room for the beer you will be taking back LOL

Sucks is still fresh everywhere but any Nugget will be about 3 months old (still good though!)

Jack's Abby in Boston area. (If you're in Framingham, go to the brewery)
Barrel-aged framinghammer and hoponius union are both awesome.

Driving or train? If driving, on the MD/DC border right off 95 is a great store, State Line Liquors in Elkton, MD, also you can stop there, and take a couple of back roads to avoid the toll.

Founders and Bells aren't even in MD or DE.

One other thing to note is Pennsylvania liquor laws. Beer is not sold at liquor stores. You can buy cases (and only cases) at beer distributors. If you want singles or six packs, you have to find a deli, bar, or grocery store with a license to sell takeout beer.

Founders in NJ, NY is easy to get. However, Breakfast stout is hard to find now as it is a seasonal. double trouble is available along with the core lineup.

Also, look out for Bronx Pale Ale in cans when in NY. I'll also second the Maine Beer Co. The Mo, Mean Old Tom and Peeper are great. Definitely get some Jack's Abbey when in Ma

FBS is still pretty easy to find. WF Columbus Circle had some 4-packs last week (next to 4-packs of BCS).
