Finally got my hands on a bottle! Loving every sip, but wondering if anyone else finds this year's batch a bit hot? It's reminding me a bit of BCBS. Thoughts?

It probably is a little hot since its just been released. Let it sit for 6 months to a year and it will mellow put nicely

Nice, I just picked this up yesterday and have been contemplating whether to have it now or sit on it a bit. Definitely can't wait to see what it's all about.

Not to be discouraging towards future posts, but how are you going to start a thread with the notion that this year's parabola batch is "hot" compared to prior vintages...when you've never had any prior vintages...
That said, it could be the change in barrels (this year is four roses barrels) that has affected the beer's initial hotness?

Friends of mine have commented on this year's batch and seemed to agree it was a bit more boozy than the previous years. I was simply offering inquiry to the greater BA community, aka people who know a lot about beer. I love '13 Parabola so I'm winning either way. Cheers.

Wow that's a shock - you'd think FW would be better than that. Good luck on the next bottle.

Looks like some people are mixed up here so It think it's worth pointing out that there were some four roses barrels this year, but the bulk were still from heaven hill, as with previous vintages. Also some smaller amounts of other distilleries' barrels mixed in. there were over 200 oak barrels blended to make the finished batch, so the result is the sum of all the different flavors coming together, with probably half a dozen batches blended together.

As for it being particularly hot, I don't think so at all. This is my favorite bottle release of the last three years so far.

The only comparison I can make is between the '13 parabola and '12 parabola that had already been aged a year (had at the Firestone Barrelworks on tap on release day) in which a hot comparison can't really be made, but i did notice more bourbon flavor in the '13, not sure if that is a flavor that will fade over time though.

It's sweeter and a little hotter than last year but still glorious. Parabola ages into perfection but either way it's a fucking awesome stout.

This year's vintage was my first time trying it too, but my opinion was the only thing holding us back from being a perfect beer was the boozyness. I bought 2 bottles so I will sit on one for about 6 months to see if the heat fades a little bit

2013 batch is amazing. The booze notes play into the whole beer very well given its massive flavor but I would be curious to see how some of my bottles balance out over a year. Either way this is the best batch yet and one of the best beers ive ever had.
