Those my friend are some delicious morels, a treat you have to brave poison ivy and ripping thicket to get a chance to find. Most delicious of them all, chants a close second. Cheers!

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there, although I think they are fairly rare in this thread. My wife of over 25 years and the mother of our (2) children is not a beer drinker, but when pressed she is partial to lagers and California commons.

For me today it is Hopside Down, a lager fermented IPA from Widmer. Good but not great, and not even near the best in the rotator IPA seriies

Warm but overcast here in the Columbia Basin, with temps in the low 80's. Rain in the forecast for Monday, and brother we can use it. I drove by 50 miles of wheat fields on Friday, and those fields can use a drink.

    Happy Trails!

Be A Yutiful day here in Denver. Got off work, cut my hair, pour me a beer.
Went with a Rogue Morimoto Black Obi Soba ale...but not sure how old it is. Just bought it yesterday. Tastes good, but lacks the hops. Almost like a Guinness. Not bad, and it really doesn't matter. Beer, sun, sittin on the porch, keeping them whippersnappers of my lawn!

Happy Mother's Day [IMG] & Happy NBS to all...
Nice day here on Long Island with mostly sunny skies and temps in the low 60's.
We had brunch with my mom & family and then dinner with my wife's mom & family. I had some wine at the in-laws but now we're home and I'm enjoying this fine IPA...

This will be last my NBS entry, thankfully, but probably not my last beer of the night. Deaths, stage productions, gigs, funerals, security work, watching the Mariners not suck for a change, keeping friends spirits up, and entertaining guests has piled up on me, time to release. A nice little IPA from a newish regional brewery. Cheers all! http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30024/86983/?show_hads=N .

Imperial Rye IPA - Reuben's Brews
    4.46/5 rDev +4.4%
    look: 3.75 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

A: Kind of ugly caramel brown color body with 1 finger head. Lots of lacing.

S: Wow. Nice. Tropical fruits, orange, sweet malt. Not much rye tone noted.

T: Very well balanced. I get the spice from rye towards the mid-end. Tropical fruits, tangerine, citrus, grapefruit, a bit of piney bitterness towards the end. A tad bit of alcohol notes.

M: Very smooth. Alcohol heat can be noted but not overpowering.

O: This one was a surprise, didn't know what i was getting into. Quite nice brew from a new local brewery (for me anyways).

    Serving type: bottle

    Happy Mother's Day NBS,

A beautiful day here in southern, CT. And as a wise man, errr, snl skit once said, every Mother's Day deserves a mother's night. And everyone deserves an NBS. Here's my thoughts on this brew new to CT:

A lot of folks out here, including several of my friends, are avid Shroomers. Don't care for 'em myself, but because of the forests out here, it's not that risky to get 'em. Lots of hiking, but the undergrowth isn't that thick. Lots of other varieties too, including some "enhanced" ones!

    New Dictatorial Sunday
    Maharaja by Avery Brewing Company

A little spring cleaning today. Both at home, as well as helping my uncle with his hot sauce business (seriously good stuff). The stove was the largest task to tackle: seriously, food (while amazamaballs...) leaves ridiculous amounts of residue and, if it's been let to boil over, etc... Let's just say it was a long day. At least, after a beautiful sunny week (in the PNW? in May?), it was grey and rainy here in paradise this weekend. I didn't feel as bad being inside scrubbing and vacuuming and figuring out what the deuce to do with all this paperwork... and the duck enjoyed it's outdoorsy time in the garden that much more (I could tell based on how much slug slime was hanging from its beak when I went to put it back in its night pen before basketball).

I love reading everyone's sunday ventures through the day; it just makes me that much more excited for the late evening when I get to submit my own new sunday experience. As a personal rule I don't drink on sundays until after our weekly pickup basketball game (which is after dinner... who thought that was a good idea?!?), so I always end up being one of the last submissions (game usually doesn't get out until around 11, and that's pacific time, so...). This is one of the ways I convince myself I'm not an alcoholic  (by enforcing these little rules on my own life... don't worry it doesn't make that much more sense from in here either, but if I can prove to myself that I have control over aspects of my own life... or something. nvm)
Anyway, basketball tonight was alright: small group which led to fairly unbalanced teams from the get-go, so our team did not have as much consistent success as I had hoped (I've done a lot of losing in my life, so I I've grown pretty sick of it and hate when it happens), but we won the last game (which is always the money round since it goes to a higher score, and usually weeds out the less serious players who leave early), so at least there's that, even if I did roll my ankle (again). baseline jumper over the star from hs ftw!

Anyway, I opted for Maharaja this evening as my new little adventure and am quite enjoying it. It's a little different (in a good way), and quite enjoyable. As odd as it may sound, the image I keep conjuring is of a blend between a solid DIPA, and really good gingersnaps (you know, the homemade kind: with handground ginger and maybe tiny chunks of candied ginger just to give it that gingery-gingerness to outginger ginger from Gilligans Island).

Err.. thanks for putting up with my stream of consciousness novella there about my super exciting life. /therapy session

    tl;dr: rain=productivity, basketball=good, rolled ankle=bad, Maharaja=good

Central Waters/Local Option Bourbon Barrel-Aged Le Petite Mort. (Damn that's a mouthful lol). I rarely have weizenbocks, but when I do, I always love them. (Perhaps I should purchase them more). Such an underappreciated style. Add a belgian yeast strain and some bourbon barrel aging and it's just wow. Great brew after a long work week.
