Hey BigGene! The big guy with the beard was Andy, the Taproom manager. I know several in our group did not get three 10-10-10's. Mostly because their event calendar only listed the BA Roosevelt release, so they budgeted for that. There was also some debate as to how well it would age versus the Roosevelt. You talked me into getting 3 of each, and I am very happy I did. But..I am also glad that not everyone grabbed their full alotment, which means that the people behind us in line at least got a few bottles of a fabulous beer.

I thought the event went fairly smoothly, and I enjoyed hanging out and talking to the Orlando and Jacksonville beer geeks that were on either side of us in line. Of course, we also didn't show up at the last minute to a very limited bottle release and expect to get 6 bottles.

So changing the allotment during the middle of the release is smooth? Posting on FB "These bottles may sell out fast and will go first come, first serve." and then cater to those that showed up late is smooth?

"The big guy in the blue shirt with the GINORMOUS beard" came out and announced how they were going to let in 10 people at time and get your bottles first or you will lose your place in line and state the 3 btl limit again. He actually had to make the announcement twice because the line was stretched down the brewery and into the parking lot. They had to part the line twice to fork lift beers in. They had a FB event that had 125 "going" and 31 "maybe". They knew they didn't have enough supply for the demand. They could see they had over 100 people before they opened the doors.

Then after 60 people already had the original allotment, they go OH SHIT!! we are going to run out. We only have enough for 40 more people, lets cut it down to 1 Roosevelt and 2 10-10-10 so we can make sure those that showed up after 4 can get something. Their only excuse is "This is our first release, we are new" is laughable, especially when just about every brewery in the state is willing to mentor or offer advice from past releases to make it easier and more enjoyable for all.

Bottom line is they should have accessed the situation before it started and either changed the allotment before it started or held to their original plan of first come first serve until they run out. The Florida beer seen is growing and people know to get to these events early or they will miss out. For Swamp Head go back on their word and change their mind in the middle release is disappointing.

I have to say many people that are frustrated at how the release went did not show up at "the last minute". To the contrary I was in line at 2:45, not much later then those in front of us. I was 62nd in line, counted how many people were in line before us, and figured it was close, but we would get our allotment, as they stated both in their event description posted in numerous places, and when they came out to give everyone the low-down it was to be handled like all releases: first come first serve. What is frustrating was cutting the allotment mid-release.Personally it was even more frustrating for me, since they made the change starting with me. Folks right before me were allowed to buy three and three, but I was told 1 and 2.

Now I get wanting to make more people happy and allowing more people to get a shot at bottles, but make that decision before you start letting people in line. It was 100+ deep by 3:30, and they knew then that not everyone would get their full allotment, this is when the decision should have been made. And cutting BA Roosevelt from 3 to 1 was a large cut, cutting it down to 2 (at the beginning) really would have elevated most peoples frustration, and allowed allot more people to get bottles. Did I have a good afternoon? Yes, but please don't change allotments mid-release.

And as stated in another thread regarding this, chat and cuts need to be called out!

I vented enough on FB, so I will keep it short. Swamp Head guys seemed nice enough, but it's a business and when a business promises goods they better deliver. Swamp Head did not. I am just glad they had Maduro on tap.

Your last sentence is the thing, I was the 6th person in line and when the guy came out to announce it, there was about 100 people in line at 3:30, my buddy and I did a quick count. At 3:45, you had a bunch of people showing up at the last minute and a few people jumping in line with people that had been there for an hour. That is crap! Just cause you waited and got there doesn't mean that you earned them a spot in line! They should have been there when you got there. And the people that are all pissed off are the people that showed at @ 4 for a beer release thinking you are going to walk up and be the first person in line! It's a beer release, they should have not cut the limit down and if you didnt get there early enough, oh well, your own fault!

The same thing happened at CCB the day before when they tapped the AB huna keg, everyone showing up when they tap it thinking they are going to get it first was ridiculous! Everyone was mad they didnt get one but showed up when it was already being poured or after it blew!

To those who got 3 bottles and know solid good people that stood in line and got nothing now is when you should show some love and pick a person to sell one to. HELL pick a person to give one to. I am not just talking out my ass because I have sold 2 of mine. I had a great time and made a lot of new friends. We had a tasting in the woods afterward and the Manhattan NW along with other great sours really helped end the day on a good note.I hope to see all you guys and girls again!!!!!!

P.S The bottle count sold was right at 300 maybe just a couple less. This number came from the Rep him self at Swamp Head.

Anyone want to trade a Roosevelt for a 10-10-10?

Brother went, and was part of the "cut" allotment right in front of him, he was given his bottles, paid, and sent on his way.. He found out a bit late that he didn't get a Roosevelt, but 3, 10-10-10's..

Agreed! Generosity is always appreciated, and I continue to be impressed by what I see in the BA community. Cheers to those who have already shared the wealth with their BA Roosevelt. That is what this community is all about.

And the tasting after was the highlight for me without a doubt, some great sours shared there. It was great to meet you Kyle! Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Funky Buddha release / bottle share.

Is anyone ever going to actually open a bottle and review it? It sure makes it hard to trade for with absolutely 0 reviews on either site.

Sub 300 release bottles are not meant for drinking, they're meant for trading.

Crap I've been doing it wrong. I thought you were supposed to drink a bottle of every rare beer you got so you know exactly how many walezbro to ask for while at the same time lowering the number of available bottles making it even more rare. I now see the error of my ways.

I thought the 10-10-10 was pretty amazing. I'll be opening a bottle of the BA Roosevelt at my 4th of July party. I'll try to post a review. Be patience as I have rated many beers but have never posted a review. Cheers.
