What is your favorite Barleywine to drink fresh?

Not necessarily which are better fresh, but ones that do not need much aging.

    Thank you!

I have not had all the barleywines in the world but IMO, FFF Behemoth. I say it's probably better fresh than aged.

Go to Cambridge Brewing Company and be amazed by the Blunderbuss and Arquebus when either/both are on.

    lagunitas olde gnarleywine
    southern tier backburner

both are nice balanced beers fresh.

also, most bourbon barrel stuff is meant to be drunk right away.

Came here to say Bigfoot! Looks like there have been many to beat me to the punch but still, Bigfoot! Way better fresh than aged IMHO. HOPS!

fresh gnarleywine (gnarlywine? too lazy to look) was my first american barleywine (and maybe my first review... or was that hog heaven?). i still think it's the pinnacle of balance; that sort of caramel / "ruby" malt backbone (not sure why the word 'ruby' always comes up for that taste when i think of it, but it does) with a bold, lagunitas hop presence.

also, BBA barleywines right away, i agree. backburner i'm not so into, but gnarleywine i love. if i recall, it's even better aged (hog heaven is amazing with 5 years on it, despite the naysaying from avery themselves).
