I took part in a golf scramble yesterday and brought my own beer so I wouldn't be stuck drinking coors or bud from the golf cart. Since the tee time was 8:00, I thought starting off with Founders Breakfast Stout was in order. Sticking with Founders, Curmedgeon was next. Then on to a couple North Coast goodies, Old Stock and Brother Thelonious. By now, golf was just second to drinking, so I moved onto some 'lighter' beers with Nugget Nectar, Zombie Dust, and finished with my last Pliny. What a great day, must have shot about 200, but who cares!

What beer do you drink while playing golf?

I take sports a little too seriously. Usually water for me.

I tend to go with one beer, and it's usually a Pale or IPA. My "go to" tends to be SN Pale or Torpedo. I also lean towards canned offerings for ease of transport.

Yeah, me too. I usually walk with a carry bag, so I just freeze my water in a plastic bottle, so unless it's a 100+ degrees, I'll have a nice cold bottle of water to keep me refreshed for the entire round.

Last week when I played it was Ballast Point cans. Ill usually stick with only two or three beers for 18 if Im really trying, but if I'm golfing with buddies its either Coors Lt, SN Pale Ale, or now Ballast Point.

Flying Dog Raging Bitch. $7.50/6pack for an 8% Belgian IPA, 6 bottles will do me just fine for 18 holes.

Not sure I am with you man. I enjoy golf playing golf as a sport and not as just a reason to get hammered, so I usually have 2 beers during my round, 1 on the front 9 and then 1 on the back nine. Usually low abv type beers, nothing crazy. If you shot "around 200" and drank what you drank, I don't know man, that might be pushing it. Glad I wasn't in the group behind you.

I played last week with my uncles and we had Big Eye cans. It was perfect!

good for you. Well done. I find a 2-3 beers per nine puts me in a perfect zone...especially if it is something like Surly Furious which I had good success with last fall. I go 275 lbs these days so it's not like I'm getting smashed but 2-3 per nine gets me in a relaxed mood and happy mood from the quality beer. Just different feel when drinking good stuff like you mentioned instead of Bud Light.

There is a fine line though if you are playing for keeps. I don't give a shit though and if I'm having fun I have more than that per nine (more like 10 for 18) and my score usually reflects it.

I like to take a few Dale's Pale Ale's with me (2-3 rd) but today was late and bought a few Guinness at the course and suffered through one of my worst rounds in years.

Over the entire round splitting a 6 pk of Bitter American (4.4%) with your buddy is great(with water of course), but definitively no more then 3 of anything sub 5%.

Unless it's a super casual round, I can't drink anything but water in my rounds.

Once I start drinking, my golf game goes to crap and I usually stop caring. Save the brews for the clubhouse.

In all fairness to the OP this probably sounded like a good story after all those beers (11 PM post from VA).
